Did/Do You Play Basketball?

Postby ATTENTIONWHORE on Fri Jul 30, 2004 1:35 pm

Just curious; saw something similar to this on the .org...here's what I posted; dunno if this was talked about before, oh well:
I played 7th, 8th Grade B-Ball, dropped 6 3-Pointers in a good game once... (we lost) was in that from 2000-2002; continued play in 2003, where I played for a Park District team where I wasn't as good as in Grade School. In grade school I averaged around 10ppg. and 5 apg. P.D. I averaged around 5ppg in just a few games...(players were selfish). Just so y'all know, I'm 5'8" 130 lbs and I was a SG.

I used to before I messed up my ankles. Now I'm just glad I learnt how to do some cool tricks to impress random people who think being able to do them makes me a great player (Y)

I been playing all my life, but I've yet to play any sort of organized ball. I'm looking forward to trying out for my school's team this fall. (Hopefully varsity starter  ).

I've been sidelined for 7 months since November cause my arm was broken (required to have an operation). But now I'm back on track and I've regained my shooting. (Y) (Y)

i play PG, i hate it, i love playing SG Richard Hamilton style. I play PG cos im the best at passing and keeping everyone involved on our team...it sucks. Ive started hogging the last few games :) getting less assists and more points

I think after me, Matt has the best shot at making it into the NBA.

I'm first because I'm a Euro that's unknown by scouts ofcourse.

I played competitively up until the age of 18. I decided to quit partly because I once again injured my left ankle, and also because of the officiating in the Newcastle Basketball Association. Many of the refs had developed a dislike for our team, which kind of sucked the fun out playing there.

The only ref in my high school league who likes our team at all is blind and deaf.

I gotta ask you guys, if you jump for a rebound, bump into another one your teammates on the way down (with the ball in your hands), land, jump, and shoot, is that a travelling? Because we were in our semi finals one game takes all series, down by two points with few seconds left, and one of the refs (I think he is a gay cop) called travelling. And this ref I think dislikes us less than all the other refs (who really dislike us, not including the blind and deaf one mentioned above).

Oh so yeah, been shooting in my backyard forever, played in house league up to about gr7, school team gr 7 and 8, and high school junior (9 and 10) and senior (11 -> only 11 to start every game!) and now going into gr 12 I will be playing senior again. Although in this league I am ok, in the big scheme of the world I am awful (hell, I play in Canada, what do you expect) so you won't be hearing my name on any sports broadcast any time soon. Besides, I'd rather be heard on the news for discovering a cure for something, or something of that sort.

Why do you think his J is bad? Usually I can't tell how people shoot by just reading their posts...

I play basketball but I'm thinking of calling it quits because our coach is a jackass. :x We have to run for everything! If we are too slow getting out on the court-run! If nobody volunteers at first-run! It sucks...

That sucks, ruffryder!!! My coach is the total opposite. We pretty much never run, he doesn't even make us stretch or anything. Before games, we'll be warming up with layups, and he'll yell "NO! Just
shoot around, no layups!!!" I think we did one 'sprint' the whole year.

Edit - somehow you guys made two posts while I was submitting this one - Dan is right, please stay on topic guys.

I've been playing (never seriously on a team, except one time) bball the last 8-9 years and still do.
Not as often as I would like to though. Almost only in the summers.
