So I guess we basically got a three part commercial for Order of the Stick.

I didn't care at all for the season finale last week. To me, it felt like one bad (and overly long) Family Guy cutaway joke, with a depressing ending. A disappointing end to what I feel was one of the worst seasons to date, if not the worst.

It's funny, the thing that bothered me the most about the last episode was that it messed with the show's continuity. In a previous episode, Butters' book resulted in the Kardashians getting murdered, so for Kim to be alive just for the sake of the joke felt cheap.

I enjoyed the trilogy, particularly the George R R Martin jokes. It felt like it was going to be about Randy, but Kenny was the real highlight (I loved the anime sequences).

Overall, I quite liked the season, but I feel it's becoming too reliant on pop culture.

I just caught up on the season. I don't know about worst season ever rights, i might give that to 16, but that could be influenced by my own mood at the time.

But I do agree the past 2-3 seasons have been subpar as compared to the rest of their body of work. A few years ago, I never would've dreamed of getting behind on South Park. This year I went a couple of months and there was no great loss in not being current on the episodes.

They've always been semi-dependent on pop culture. That's nothing new.

True. I reckon they used to handle it a lot better though, better utilised it in both plots and throwaway jokes alike. My main complaint is that the tone of the show has just become too mean-spirited, to the point where it's depressing rather than funny.

Stumbled across this today on Yahoo:

George R.R. Martin: 'I'm Into Boobies, Not Weenies'

"I have been that told my character in ‘South Park’ is obsessed about weenies,” he told Clevver News at the Sandiego Comic-Con. "I have to deny this as a scurrilous rumour.

"I have nothing against weenies. Weenies are fine, but I am not obsessed with weenies."

He added: "I am definitely on the boobies side of the equation. They picked the wrong equation for me."

He went on to drive his point home one more time, saying: "Boobies, not weenies."
