Changing the default Game Ball nbaball.iff

I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I am using the JGSME and when I activate a different nbaball.iff it is not changing the ball. Even if I take the nbaball.iff and manually replace the one in the nba2k14 folder I still end up with the default ball. Am I missing something? I have no trouble with other mods. They seem to activate and work fine. Just have had no luck changing the ball. Anyone have any suggestions?
