Alright guys, this is something I've had in the works for a little while now but have been waiting on RED MC to test it out. I discussed the idea with a select few and have reached out to a few people (some with no response) thank you to those that have answered me. Anywho I have been actively working on a way to get tight jerseys with correct physics and no need to decrease player detail. I ran into this accidentally when testing a jersey that bigh0rt made from a request I had for the NCAA2K mod in which he used the 64-65 Lakers uniform as a template to create the Michigan State Spartans Nike Elite jersey. When I read through the posts I saw the uniform number was uh570.iff so I just replaced that with the jersey h0rt created for me to test out and to my surprise, the jerseys were perfectly tight with actual cloth physics with no overlapping, etc. etc. So with this I knew of course that earlier retro uniforms are linked to the various cloth.iff's in 2k's folder I just had to figure out what correlated with what in order to get the tight jerseys. I replaced 3D models and did maybe 5 other things until finally I discovered the key. Anyways, the above previews are what I've achieves so far with experimenting with multiple variables. Looks pretty decent compared to the paper thin baggy jerseys 2k uses as default. It allows for player movement with no glitches, undershirts can be worn, etc. etc. which was an occurrence with Bliss' tight jersey mod. The Jerseys have some slight cloth movement but with no overlapping as seen when cloth moves and intersects creating that weird somewhat ripped paper look, though the movement is minimal. Anyway, This was achieved by using 2k's mechanics of how retro jerseys appear. I've figured out how 2k's got it wired. Now this is where things get slightly complicated and the limitations of this are revealed. I'm working on a way to get the tight retro jerseys working with normal style shorts. There's a few problems though. In RED MC, in the Jerseys Tab I played around with a few things and made a few discoveries. If you notice below the various tabs that affect Uniforms: Jtype (Jersey Type), ShortsStl (Shorts Style), Jmodel (Jersey Model. The pattern I noticed in Red MC with retro teams is the Jersey Model (JModel) is 5 which is the tight jersey style with a U collar. All JModel 5's Line up with ShortsStl 2, being the retro short-shorts, any other combination with JModel 5 causes the game to crash. Meaning ShortsStl 1 or 0, with one of them being normal shorts, cannot be combined with the retro jerseys. Below is to show you what I mean about the pattern with JModel 5 and ShortsStl 2:

Image

So what I've been working on is a 3d Model of regular shorts to import into the short-short layer of the cloth_shorts.iff , however when you import just the default shorts you get an error as it doesn't match the number of Vertices in the 3D model.
Image
I've edited the retro shorts to make them longer, this didn't work due to physics issues. As seen below, the bottom of the shorts are a solid and the legs protrude through the insides of the shorts where the retro shorts would normally stop (from my understanding, also the bottom of the shorts intersect with the legs

Image
Image

I've combined half short-shorts half regular shorts to match the 596 needed vertices as well as created a 596 vertices shorts model from scratch to meet the requirements however this didn't make the cut. With all that being said I feel like I'm close to getting this mod close to being useable, I'm just having the issue when importing the shorts 3D model into the cloth_shorts.iff it gives me a jumbled mess of a model rather than the model I created as seen here:
Image
I'm not sure why it's doing this but if I can just get it to import properly I'll be able to move on from the shorts step and work on perfecting the tight jersey hopefully though from my understanding just Blender edits don't make the jerseys appear the way they do in the created 3D model. I write all this hoping that with the combined knowledge of the community we can achieve tight realistic jerseys to go with normal shorts. I'm currently working around the clock on a lot of modifications at the moment but have put this on hold until a fix can be found for the shorts import issue, once that's figured out I can focus on fine tuning things. This Mod will have some downfalls that I haven't been able to crack just yet and I don't know if they're solvable. JModels 5, 6 and 8 are the only Tight Retro Jersey Models with 5 being a U collar, 6 being a V collar, and 8 being some strange contorted sleeved jersey with (I believe) a V collar, though all JModels are compatible with retro shorts. Of course in today's NBA there are a plethora of collar styles including Wishbone, VTri, etc. So this is something that may not be fully accurate when it comes to collars. It may take more than just Blender edits which is where I specialize and may take some hacking/hex editing so if possible I'd love to get some people with those skills on board to get this puppy running. I've spoken with maumau78 and when he's done with his cracked SFX project he said he'll look into the cloth_short.iff import dilemma. I hope to have this mod up and running by Christmas but that may be wishful thinking.

Let me know if you can help in any way or if you have any feedback on the situation, I'm all ears (Y)

Haha yea man the jerseys look so much better than default, still working on the shorts (read my synopsis in the first post)

-scarface- wrote:I ve noticed they are still floating an inch on a body but damn CAM, u did a good job, they are tighter. But the shorts aint moving jet am I right?

Yeah this is due to the space allotted for undershirts and accessories that require being under the jersey. I haven't actually edited the Jersey model yet, so far I'm just going off of 2k's default. As far as the shorts, they move with the legs but move as a solid object mostly. For more in depth info check the first post

Alright guys, I've updated the first post with all my progress and findings. It's a lot to read but if you're interested in this mod happening, how it works, or can help with some of the dilemmas I'm facing that I've listed in the first post it'd be much appreciated. Thank you!

Just the other day i was thinking "wouldn't it be great if someone could make tight jerseys with full player detail and normal shorts?" Amazing work Cam.

Without all of the work you and all the other modders here do to improve the game I'm sure I would have lost interest in this years 2K a long time ago, keep it up man!

for the time being you could edit the sleeved_v/wishbone.iff files to be tight like the retro uniforms yet have the baggy shorts. It would take work to figure out which parts need to be hidden, and maybe some UV mapping, but it can be done.

When RED MC is updated to work with iff files we will be able to ignore this stuff and import the models over without caring about sizes, but we don't know when Vlad will get that done.
Opinions are my own.

Cam what do you think of the shorts on this mod? It has tighter shorts including soft body physics as well. Can you learn anything from that?

it's just simple hex editing... changing 4 values from 80 to 90 makes it all happen, that dude posts a lot tight jersey updates but they are all the same

I really hope the PC gets the next-gen engine for 2K15. I highly doubt it, though. We probably won't see it until they quit supporting past consoles.

I think what's going to happen is they're going to label/port the 2K14 Next-Gen to 2K15 PC with only the roster update and without the features of 2K15 of X1 and PS4. So basically we're getting the 2K14 Next-Gen as 2K15 for PC. Fingers crossed! :(

Haha! You're right, but even if we get it, the great modders here will do something about it. (Y) The only thing I hate 'bout the Next-Gen is the body build of the players. LeBron should look like a MMA fighter not a swimmer.

There is allways a hope, but what's the good for 2k to release next years game on pc with new engine? None!
We have to be thankful to them for getting 2k14 with old gen this year, I know it's almost the same as previous 2k's but we got lot's of updated animations.
It's better than nothing...

Did u guys bought the game on PC? Or just downloaded it?
That's what I thought ;D There is no future in PC gaming industrie, consoles will overtake.

I gotta disagree man. Almost everyone I know that plays 2k on PC bought it on steam. Also, PC gaming IS the future! You can build a PC for under $1000 that is several times stronger than any console and they are still getting more powerful. Steam is free with amazing sales and free online, PSN and Xbox Live are both pay for online and sales are terrible. Plus, when the steam boxes come out, you will be able to have an affordable ($400-$500) gaming PC stronger than the next-gen consoles! The only issue with console "peasants" converting to PC is the misconceptions about keyboard being worse than controller, all mods are hacks, etc.

What's up scar? What happened to you bro? :bowdown2:

I think even though a lot of people still pirate the game even if it's almost 50% cheaper than the console ones, as long as 2K is earning from it, they will never stop selling. But yeah, business wise, it's very unlikely that they will port the Next-Gen to PC any time soon. It's sad but we'll never know. :(

what do you mean what happened to me? :D did u mean why I left modding? Simply I have no time on it, have been dealing with some family issues, it's settled at the moment and I might return this year.

Lemur, well I didn t said that PC's can t handle next gen graphics, they sure can, it depends how well built is your machine, I was talking about statistics, most of PC gamers don t buy the game... and if u are sayin that PC's have the future in gaming, why the coolest games like this years 2k, nhl 2k, EA's nhl and many more are available on consoles only? Because it brings more earnings to them, by that they force people to buy new consoles. Also they bring better graphics on new consoles, for example the new Tomb Raider is looking much better on new consoles than pc version.

What about GTA franchise? They are releasing console versions first and only after a while pc versions, they could easily left us without gta on pc and they wouldn t loose anything.

p.s. we are in a little OT I guess
