Stadium Breath Mod 1.0 RELEASED

Postby Pika on Tue Dec 31, 2013 1:54 am

Stadium Breath Mod 1.0

• custom palette
• haze simulation effect
• ambient occlusion
• fading shadows
• enhanced lighting
• skin tones balance preserved, but less reddish
• bluish cold lights

Comes in 6 versions hoping this will be friendly for anyone.

lowest
the basic thing, featuring the ENB custom palette. Should works on laptops

low
adds bloom and fast contrast curves

mid
better contrast curves, adds SweetFX antialiasing (SMAA and FXAA) and Lumasharpen for sharper edges

high
adds low quality occlusion

very high
medium quality occlusion

ultra
high quality occlusion, adds ambient occlusion and indirect lightning

The 6 versions are almost identical. The haze effect is always the same, changes are on player details and self shadowing due to occlusion.

Bloom doesn't do the job, it's only a little enhance to the haze effect. Removing it won't ruin the feeling.

Even the occlusion is not a big change on the experience because of the great quality globals we can enjoy and because the ENB custom palette actually simulate a sort of ambient occlusion: nearest object are sharper than the distant ones that fades out (of course doesn't simulate occlusion relative effects like self shadowing).

Thanks to all the beta testers, you've been really precious to achieve these results.

BETTER haze effect. 1.0 RC pics

Here are some pics of the last version. Pretty lifelike for what i see…
I don't think i could improve it more, so this is the Release Candidate. I'm going to prepare a low end and an ultra version to test.
Just give me some time as i wanna rest the eyes (like a reset i'd say) and have the final check.

ENB + SweetFX - arena haze effect v1.0 Official preview

Major improvements in quality/sharpening and boost performances!

I knew i could improve it a lot and here i am!

• new custom palette
• ambient occlusion
• fading shadows
• enhanced lights
• reflections
• skin tones balance preserved but less reddish
• players and courts sharpening improved
• more bluish lights
• performance boost

Ok so right now i need some beta testers to try the newest version (check the videos below).
Personally i think that the results are mind blowing and that it's ready for the official release, but i want to be sure that it will run on every PC (or the vast majority, at least) by tuning some aspects and release more versions in order to please everyone… So the best would be to have testers both on high end PCs and on the lower end ones.

What i'll ask to beta testers is:

- check both visuals and performances and of course give some feedback here on the forum (your PC' specs would be very useful)
- post some pics or videos to better understand what you see with your configuration
- don't send it to other people till the official release

Here are pics and videos of what i think is the best ENB i've ever seen.
As always, keep in mind that is sharper than it appear here and FPS dropping is due to video capturing.

Yes but bloom is a color killer and flattens every little detail.
I made some tries but wasn't happy with it. Will test deeper anyway. :)

Thanks Kris!

I think this is way too subtle and it feels more like depth of field than actual haze... I don't mean it should be like last year's stadium feel mod... that was the other extreme, it was too visible and it looked as if someone had thrown flares in the stadium.

I think you need to strengthen the opacity of the haze, although to be honest, I can't seem to spot the haze from your videos and pictures.

Thank you stielar for your thoughts.
You're right, you can notice the haze if you look at the crowd more than the field... :)

Bliss what a honor for me, thanks.

Actually i got much better results. I followed Kris' tip :chug: and right now i'm pretty happy with the feeling.
I knew bloom could be right, but all that bright white was killing SJ's wonderful skintones, so i didn't mess a lot with it in first place.

Will post a preview asap, maybe before next year. :D

If you didn't already, could you make everything sharp so the lines in the HD court mods are smooth?

ENB - arena haze effect v0.2 (WIP preview)

Postby Pika on Wed Jan 01, 2014 8:54 pm

Happy new year guys!
Just another quick preview of the improved haze effect.

Bliss i'm working on enbpalette to achieve the best feeling possible on every courts. You know some are very bright... ;)

AirAaron32, what you mean exactly? If you see jagged lines with HD courts maybe is because you video card anisotropic filetr is turned off or set too low...
There a re a lot of sweetfx configs to make sharp edges, but i have to admit i'm not a fan. I think those ultra details are completely unreal. How in the world you can see such small details from a high distance...? Also i think it ruin the natural aerial pespective (Leo Da Vinci rulez! ;) ) that i'm try to replicate here.

The only haze effect is saw is from SJ with feel mod stadium (2K13). But it's a CPU killer addon.

On your screenshots, and like stielar said previously, i can't see a haze effect
Sorry dude

I love the way the feel mod staduim look in field but the haze is overkill in the crowd, it looks like fireworks were set off. i installed it on 2k14 and used seanjohns new ac4 global and boy does it look nice but like you said its a cpu killer and i had to uninstall it because my cpu couldnt handle the mod so if this enb can give just a little bit of a haze efect but not kill your fps i would be happy.

Trust me it's really visible and imho changes a lot how players, court and crowd "interact". Players appears as they are in the arena in that moment, not just like stickers moving on a court.
I'll post some screenshots with and without ENB so you guys can esily see the difference and how the environment appears a big unique thing. Don't know if i can explain correctly...

Also be sure to watch the video in HD, cause at lower res it's easy to see the haze as video artifacts... :)
Thank you all again for your considerations and the kind words.

FROWARDAXL83, i like what i see now, but believe me, it's not perfect yet. I have to mess with all the arena different lights and brightness, but i think i can obtain the right result with the correct palette. Give me some time and i'll release a beta version.
I'm also testing it with various courts/arena mod and globals and it works pretty well with all the combo, so you don't need to download anithing but the enb. :)

I cant wait for the release. I think some are expecting it to have as much haze as the feel staduim mod but imo i think it was a bit much. I like the mod because of the way it looked while playing but there was way to much haze in the crowd. Most real games have like a haze look when watching on tv and thats what im looking for.

Exactly what i think, mtdub.
I don't want to make a white layer that cover everything. I want that the haze is well visible when you look at the crowd (for a distance reason) and just a little perception when you look players (virtually not so far from our eyes).
I'm uploading a video that shows the game with and without enb in real time so the difference is an easy catch.

My only concern is the hit it might take on my video card...when I tried using SJ's it lagged pretty hard and my comps very good but my video card is lacking so hopefully using this I won't take too much of a hit.

An exchange of an simple *.iff should not hit your FPS. Your problem must be different but should to related with this mod.

The whole Stadium Feel mod was the issue I guess this would be semi-related but it caused so frame issues for me so I never used it

looking forward to this mod, im running on 2 gtx titan. so my graphic card can handle whatever you throw into this mod. maybe you should make 2 version for the people on here. one for low end cards and one for high end cards. just a suggestion.

Try using your graphics card manager. The NBA 2K in-game stuff (especially there crappy Anti-Aliasing and V-Sync) crap makes me lag so hard and doesn't even work. Best use your video card program (Catlyst COntrol Cnter for AMD, I forgot the counterpart for Nvidia) and set a profile for it that overwrites 2k14's settings, and this is coming from someone who has a 2 gigabyte AMD 7850 graphics card.

My Catalyst control center has to be glitched or something because all I see is this weird thing called hydragrid and no graphics section. I tried using radeonpro and it still isn't working out.

I'm using windows 8 by the way. But it is strange because about a year ago I had the option to change the settings in CCC, but it must have been updated away because I can't find any such thing.
