It means that if the pick happens to be a high one, its protected and the team gets to keep it. Think back to last years draft. The pistons had the grizzlies draft pick, but it was protected if the grizzlies won the draft. The grizzlies ended up number 2, and had to forfeit the pick to detroit due to a prior trade.... So if its a lottery protected pick, and one of this picks ends up being a lottery (1-14), the nuggets keep it. If its not a lottery selection (15-30) it goes to New Jersey.

So that means the Nets are in a Lose-Lose situation either way. Lol, stupid Nets, next thing you know, they will trade Kidd for a ball boy

lol poor Nets....3 years of playoff ball, and now it appears if Kidd leaves, back to being the clippers of the east- lottery year after year
