Verbal commitments are legally binding in the NBA so Nash did agree to join the Suns. Per the NBA rules regarding the actual signing, Nash is still a Maverick.

So in short, Nash did sign a verbal contract with the Suns. He can't sign the written contract until the 14th.

I know, but I just like to wait until the deal is made official in writing. I'll certainly be making transactions this offseason. ;)

Indeed I will. Not all of them have been assigned numbers yet, so this is a detail I'll be sure to fix as the offseason progresses. :)

some bug

Postby Alvin on Sat Jul 10, 2004 12:55 pm

hey andrew, i downloaded your roster patch and it works fine except for one thing. all rookies you created in the game (i.e., okafor, luke jackson, gordon, etc.) wear the same jersey - the orlando magic jersey with a "c" on it. i enabled customart, and i downloaded many stuffs (updates etc). i did download jersey updates from another site but that update didn't really require custom art.

i tried to fix this by changing the dbf file. i made the "iscreated" false, and the same problem happened (with black faces). and then i tried to create a new player (from the game itself), and the default jersey is the orlando jersey. even if i put him in other teams it still wears that orlando jersey. do you know what's wrong?

I'm not sure what's going on there, but it sounds like the problem lies with the jersey update.

You'll need to edit players.dbf, updating the player's PLAYERPKG values. For example:

1. Unzip the Emeka Okafor face patch to the CustomArt folder
2. Make the following changes to Okafor in players.dbf:
- ISCREATED to False
- FACEPATCH to True
- PLAYERPKG to EMOKAFO
3. Re-load the modified roster

Check out the sticky thread in NBA Live 2003 Franchise Issues regarding rookies in the draft. The process is basically the same for NBA Live 2004.

From 2003 Franchise Forum and I quote... :)

you can add rookies to a franchise already started. you just need to create the players in the default roster with the player creator to get a player id name for them and the attributes you want them to have and so on,save the roster under a new name , then go into dbviewer or dbcommander, change their teams to 30, the isgenerated and iscreated fields to true( number 1 in the box) the plyrs strengths and weaknesses if you want those (may need a little research for the category values), the players draft ratings to determine where they should go, etc.

i suggest using both dbviewer and dbcommander. with dbviewer you can see all the created players together at the bottom listed in order by plyrid numbers and you can make the changes with them all listed right there.

then save your franchise under a new folder as a test and save again at the end of the season before the off season starts so that you can go back to before the draft if you need to in order to get everything right or maybe change the player ratings to determine where they get drafted.

then open the roster save file that you named (with the created players in it) in dbcommander in the left field and the saved franchise test file in the right field and use the menus to transfer the players from the roster file (left) to the franchise file (right). then back in the game once you load the test file proceed to the offseason and go through all the phases and watch the draft to see if the new players show up. if everything is there and you're satisfied finish the offseason and then save that file as your franchise file in place of the old one and you're all done.

i just had emeka okufor (college plyr if nobody's heard of him) go 6th in a test draft with my current season and everything went fine, so it'll take some work and you'll have a ton of free agents but you can make a draft with real future stars, however you'll also have a tremendous amount of talented players crowding the early to mid first round so when rating the players for draft position, keep in mind where you think they should go or players that you feel should go 10 to 15 may get pushed down further by the cpu players bumped from the earlier picks.

Pardon my ignorance but when u say change the team to 30... that does also mean origteam and salaryteam?

so as I understand it... from the latest roster 1.08
1. I edit the isgenerated and iscreated to TRUE
2. Then change the team to 30
and that is it? :?:

Thank guys!

Yes, once the first season is over. You'll have to edit everyone's Years Pro though, otherwise there won't be any rookies as v1.08's 04/05 rosters contains updated Years Pro values.

It's only for Dynasty Mode. There's no second season/rookie draft in Season Mode. ;)

For any transactions made , you should visit nba.com and check section "player movement central" . Every transaction is listed there
I have done every transaction listed there in my live'04, now my team ratings have gone crazy:dallas, la lakers, miami are rated 99, most teams are in 90-ies, while nj is 77!! :(
