I dont want to start some AMDvsIntel and NvsA war here, but i need to know how much money you want to spend on it.

For the CPU+Motherboard+Video Card I can put up to 500-600 USD.....

...other components I'll do with a SSD Disk + 16gb RAM + Case.....already got a DELL 24 as a monitor....

EDIT: just to be clear PES 2014 and other games runs without any stutter....

i will try to reach for i7, even this cheap i7 3770- in my country 200euro
ahhh now i saw usd, well i think u must choose i5, maybe i5-3350P - 200usd in my country
+ i think 760gtx- 250in my country
mainboard, im not big fan of buying expensive motherboard, because technology go so fast and we cant just build up computer on some great mtherboard and eventualy upgrading other components with new ones. Its bad way...ofc from my point of view. I think 150 usd is enough money to buy solid motherboard with all most needed things inside. U must watch for chipset on board, if i good remember those with Z77 intel wasnt so bad. If u will need some precious tip let me know.
Remember about good power supply

Yes a good power supply. High wattage doesn't mean it's good . Consistency is better.

Just some considerations......I just realized I can't play with the default NBA 2k vsync on...it's just to laggy in terms of input from the controller.

I went the other direction: vsync off...without frame limiter the tearing is just killing me...with a frame limiter (using nvidia Inspector) the game is a lot better....I'm using High Settings for almoust everything. I just love how the game feel without vsync on...animations are super smooth and also physics seems to benefit from this setting.

But....there are some drawbacks when I play:

- With sleeved jersey for both teams the experience is very good...just some tearing
- With normal jersey for both teams I just got some lag & tearing.....playable but the lag sometimes is just too much... :(

Maybe the only solution if I want to play with vsync off is to buy a Desktop with a HI-END card that support "adaptive vsync"...seems like my Mobile GPU is not so good with this game :?
Any advice?

EDIT: same results with PES 2014....also with this game I prefer vsync off BTW

could a 120hz gaming monitor improve my NBA2k14 and PES 2014 experience?

Sure but lurking the web seems the better solution for screen tearing...

Some updates after installing all Windows 8 updates and nVidia 320.18 (best suggested for my video card)....

The real problem is the inconsistent framerate....it goes from 90 to 45......if I keep vsync off. So the real question is if my laptop can handle the game without frame drops.

So far by now I'm just using frame limiter (from nVidia panel) at 55 becouse most of the time I saw that the framerate was above 55 with some frame drops; with this settings I played some games with both sleeved and normal jersey always high def....well it runs very well....so for now I'm ok with it...

...just wish I can investigate more on why sometimes the framerate drops to 40 fps :(

p.s.
turning vsync on just kills this game for me....I got too much input lag....way better with vsync off IMHO

If you can maintain a frame rate above 100, in my opinion, yes it enhances the gameplay. The smoothness of the game's animation only enhances the experience.

but drops show up in replays and cutscenes? or during gameplay

With vsync on it doesn't drop....
With vsync off a little drop during gameplay...then it goes back to 59fps (using a limiter).....

maybe a overheat of the GPU?

There must be some problem other than your spec, nba 2k always need more powerful cpu than graphic card, you got i7 for f sake and your card is enough for this title. Maybe win8 or something with overheat.

I really don't know I've tried almoust everything to get 0 stutter with vsync off.....

- disable/enable hyperthreading
- 3 different drivers
- kill almoust every background process
- BIOS Update

...still I see some little stutter....nothing major but it's present :o

nVidia Optimus is the main suspected :-)
I've read in many forums that many people have problem with that and many games....

"....Well i have a difrerent laptop (a clevo p170EM) but with a 680M. I can confirm the stutter in alot of games. I think Nvidia dosen't care for the mobile segment, let's just hope next WHQL brings some fixes for the 680M....."
