I'm about halfway through 30 Years of Wrestlemania. The level of detail in the presentation is fantastic, with all the old overlays and video quality from the era, much like NBA's Greatest in NBA 2K12. I also like how they've recreated some of the old promos that aired prior to the matches on the real PPVs. It's very well done and much like Attitude Era last year, it's fun to play through the matches, hit all the historical objectives and recreate those memorable moments. It's kind of a shame that you have to start at the beginning and play your way through. It makes sense given the mode's concept, but if you'd like to jump ahead to try and unlock certain content first, you're out of luck.
It plays a lot like WWE '13, which isn't bad but it does mean that some of the things that frustrated me in last year's game have carried over. The AI can be very cheap at times, especially with its reversals. It makes the game artificially difficult at times, though it is satisfying when you achieve an objective. I still find that the Predator engine is a bit clunky, not always a responsive as I'd like and I still find myself missing clotheslines and whatnot that really should connect. However, it's more than playable and aside from the aforementioned cheapness, I'm enjoying it.
I haven't dived into the Creation Modes too deeply yet, but from what I've seen they are a welcome improvement upon last year.
Beat the Streak is a worthy challenge, though a souped up Undertaker combined with the cheapness of the AI that I mentioned before can be a frustrating combination. Defend the Streak is basically just an extended gauntlet match, Slobber Knocker mode from some of the older games (indeed, by eliminating a certain number of opponents, you unlock that mode for use with anyone). It's alright and I like that they've recorded some custom commentary for it; I lost to Kane, unfortunately one elimination short of getting an achievement, and they talked about how it was only appropriate that the Streak be ended by Taker's brother. It's a nice touch, better than some generic "Well, who'd have thought that Superstar would beat the streak?" line before the Exit/Rematch overlay pops up.
