Questions (updated)

Sun Jul 18, 2004 4:39 am

EDIT: I decided to just add another question to this post instead of making more posts and cluttering the forum.

QUESTION TWO:
is there a way to edit a dbf file so that you can change the number of games played in a season in your dynasty? in my first year (03-04), i did a whole 82 game season, but I have since changed my mind and would rather do a 28 game season---but I'd rather not start all over. Is there a way to do this?

This first question doesn't need answering anymore, cause I realized how dumb it is after a while.
Code:
QUESTION ONE:
do you have to go all the way through the dynasty draft before you can edit info of generated rookies (i'm beginning my 2nd season)? or is there another dbf file (not players.dbf) that contains the info for generated rookies?

i hope my question is clear. i'd appreciate any quick responses. also- if anyone wants to be in the draft for the 2nd season of my dynasty, just let me know ASAP- if you have a cyberface, great, but i'll take anyone who doesn't, too.

I don't think so... the rookies don't exist before the draft. When it says generating rookies its actually making the rookies then... so you have to wait until after the draft.

can anyone please answer this???

You can't change it through any options ingame. There may be some way you can DBF edit it but you'd have to ask Andrew- he's the DBF wiz.

I just had an idea---I'm going to BACK MY FILES UP first ;) and then try this:

since i want to change to a 28 game season for season 2 of my dynasty, this is what i'm going to try. i am going to save the players.dbf file from my current dynasty. then i will start a new dynasty, 28 game season, and sim 2003-2004. and then save. then i will replace the players.dbf with the OLD players.dbf (from my 82 game dynasty)...

shouldn't this work? i think it will even keep the stats, won't it? i'm going to try.

let me know what you think.

holy mother of god it worked. went off with no problems whatsoever....well, it's kind of weird cause it does have the stats from my 2003-2004 season, but it says only 28 games played, but it still has the correct number of minutes per game lol....and it doesn't have the playoff stats from 03-04, but i'm very happy it worked.

Good (Y)

I would have helped you but I was not sure.

I could not test it out on my game because my game is crashing but NICE WORK :)

There is a way to put players in the draft before they are generated.
You have to give them a teamID of "29." If not, then "39." I'm not sure which one. One is for free agents and the other is for rookies that are not drafted yet. Then you can edit stuff like "projected draft position," "rookie strengths", "rookie weaknesses," etc ....
This way, you can actually see the rookies being drafted live. (when they show the rookie walking up the stairs to shake David Stern's hand)

I've never tried this though. It's worth a try. Just make sure u save a backup first.

wow that would be great- but i have zero experience editing team IDs and stuff like that. I dont even know where to do that

Sun Jul 18, 2004 11:21 pm

teamID is a field in the players.dbf - if you give a player 39 as teamID it he will be in the next draft (29 are the FA's)

Sun Jul 18, 2004 11:26 pm

oh sweet...so i can put my created players with a team ID of 39 after my season is over, but before i start the new one....and they will be added to the group of generated rookies?

new question:

if i make a player with only one name (example: cocobee), do i just put it in the last name spot and leave first name spot empty? (i know this seems obvious i just want to make sure)

Mon Jul 19, 2004 3:52 am

why dont you just try it outside your dynasty? btw i thought that cocobee doesnt have that as name in his dynasty, he has his real name

Yes, in the dbf file.
