Play calling... please expound

Mon Jul 19, 2004 11:44 am

I know that for different teams, there are different kinds of plays, Like for Dallas, their offensive strat. is the Motion, then for most of the others, its Dynamic... can someone explain please, I watch the diagrams and stuff, and it seems like the first couple of plays from the tip off is the only times they realy set and run the play.

I use the spurs so their offensive strat is Flex. There are 5 different Flex plays, Does the A.I. just cycle these 5 palys, cause I noticed that if you get the tip, the Spurs set for Flex 1, then after the other team scores, they set Flex 3, Then after that, I can't seem to see the set play anymore! They just run around and try to get open ( Is this the Dynamic play? Run around to get open?)

Well anyways, my question is, do I have to pre-set the original 4 plays like Iso and stuff to the flex 1, 2, 3, 4? As well as Set my offensive strat to flex so that they'll Flex everytime?

And will running your play to the "T" result in a more high percentage shot even with someone in your face?

Go to their team, settings playbook, set the first one (no number)

Theres not a higher chance of making, but if you do plays right you should get open.

So set only the first one? I guess its Iso right? Set that to just Flex? and set the offensive Strat to Flex as well?

Who here uses the Lakers? The Lakers use the Dynamic offense right? Can someone explain that? Or do people just run around trying to get open or pass around waiting for someone to get open? Does anyone know that Live utalizes plays!? Does anyone even use set plays? The one thing with live is that there are so many ways to beat your defender one on one that you forfiet the chance to use plays!? I play with a lot of good players and that is why i'm wondering if anyone uses plays here? Set your sliders to on-ball defense to 95 and you'll see the use for plays, cause its just like playing with a human player, they have the right anolog raised up and they keep bumping into you, that's why you need plays,

Now, can someone please explain to me the Dynamic play calling, or if there's a site with diagrams and animations, please let me know, thanks a whole bunch ballers, thanks=)

Nonononononononono, go to settings/playbook/TEAM STRATEGY. No team really uses dynamic. You set that to one of the sets. The sets are listed as SET, SET1, SET2, SET3, and so on. You want to choose the first one with no number on it. So if you want the flex set, you set it to "Flex". Then each time down the court the computer will RANDOMLY choose one of the sets from Flex. When you set the this in the team strategy, they should do this EVERYTIME down the court. One way to see if it is working is if the shooting guard walks WITH the point guard as he brings the ball up the court.

As for the Lakers... they don't use dynamic, they use triangle. Triangle should be one of the most popular sets, haven't you ever heard of GP's problems with it?

HUH!? I don't get it, if you go into team strat. You see a screen that has,

Offense : Dynamic
Defense : Autoswitch
Crashboard: Auto
Etc.....

If you go into offense strat.

Then you see
up for iso
down for pick-n-roll
etc.....

The default of the lakers and most of the teams in live is:
Offense: Dynamic
Defense: Autoswitch
Etc....
For the Mavs its:
Offense: Motion
Defense: 3-2 zone
Etc... Now which do i switch?
