Is this normal: Excellent and A+ and shot is still missing

AllStar Difficulty - Shooting mid-range, attribute 88

So what's the point of shot quality when I'm still missing like an idiot wide open over and over

Maybe your "consistency" attribute is low or even "shot off dribble." These two are also key stats to keep up to par with your shooting.

I don't know yet if they fixed this in 2k14, but they used to make you miss if your FG percentage is unreasonably high. Ex: If you're shooting 75% for your first 6 or 7 games in My Career, then they used to make you miss even open shots to make your percentages realistic.

It's normal, or by design, or some bug they have yet to narrow down. I make more shots with B+ and A- then I do with A's and A+ grades. It probably has something to do with the timing versus whatever algorithms are choosing how likely the shot is going to go in. Keep in mind where you are shooting from on the floor. An A+ release from a spot the player is cold from is less likely than a wide open poor release shot from a hot spot, in my experience.

what I notice in 2k13 its depend on your shooting style, where you are on the court, if its a catch and shoot or drive and shot, and the camera

I play on camera mode player lock if I get a catch and shot or a spot I make more if I wait for the camera to face the basket

and I have to release my shot faster goin for spot up 3's but hold it longer shooting a 3 from off the dribble

still tryin to get it right on 2k14 tho

Go to shootaround and press back to see hot/cold spaces on the floor. I recommend not shooting a lot in cold areas since you will miss more often than not.
But yeah, i know what you mean. Excelent, A+ and you throw the biggest brick in bball history.
Slighty Early, B- AND SWISH. Sometimes i sense a bit of scrypting in this game, dunno maybe it's just me.

Slightly more Fs has been going in for me than A+ during live games ... probably that invisible momentum thing i dont really know but it sucks
Shootaround, gonna facepalm myself for shooting bricks even with As

OK question does 3 point shooting also takes part in the formula of mid range, cause mine is in the 40s
