Holy Shitballs.

So a free operating system that also allows for in-home streaming from your computer to whatever device you have it setup on
A 'console' with such and OS on it, being created by different manufacturers and will have varying internal specs, but if it can stream, F it.
And a controller that accounts for mouse & keyboard only games, hackable, with shareable bindings. Touchscreen, touchpads.

Streaming over the network, I like it. Lots of potential here, including broadcasting that in-house stream and using a smartphone or tablet to play the game, provided there is a way to control it.

I wonder where this OS will be. On a set top box/console?

Family/Friends sharing. Sounds exploitable.

my understanding is there will be a "steambox" or other "PCs" for living room TVs, or since its free we could put it on our own hardware

It only allows access to one unit from my understanding.
You authorize one unit that will have shared access to you games library and that unit can play games that you aren't currently playing.

Steam Family Sharing is designed for close friends and family members to play one another's Steam games while each earning their own Steam achievements and storing their own saves and application data to the Steam cloud. It's all enabled by authorizing a shared computer.

Once a device is authorized, the lender's library of Steam games becomes available for others on the machine to access, download, and play. Though simultaneous usage of an account’s library is not allowed, the lender may always access and play his games at any time. If he decides to start playing when a friend is borrowing one of his games, the friend will be given a few minutes to either purchase the game or quit playing.

We already have that ability with steam. I can go play games on a friends pc if I login and have the game installed and the saves in the cloud.

yes, but this will let you, as pdub, use one of my games

no password sharing or any of that

What Jao said, you can authorize your friend's machine to access your games library without the need for you to give him your Steam username and password or for him to log on to Steam using your username and password so all his acheesements and saves are registered to his account separate from yours.

I wonder if game trading cards will also appear for the user 'borrowing' the game. Trading cards are srs bzns.
benji can already buy a lot of $5 hookers with what he earned from trading cards for Steam wallet money.
I wonder if there are hookers that will accept Steam wallet money as payment.

Steam has the right idea. This almost is revolutionary. Console/PC hybrid possibly and eventually.

I take it you don't quite like Tim Buckley.

I don't care about Tim Buckley, it's just a better punchline.

Miscarriage is a better punchline?

I thought at first the last panel had to do with the girl being 'portal' molested.

That last panel has so many levels.

definitely looks interesting. Loved the 2-pad mouse movements at the end. I still want to see it try to work with a true 2 joystick game like 2K, or a non 1:1 mouse fps video.

but yea, I have decided to go with the 50' HDMI cord of death after I found out that we can launch big picture mode at any time by holding the xbox's guide button for a little more than 5 seconds. So, I'll just run it next to my 50' ethernet cord I have running upstairs and call it...a bit easier and cheaper than getting a steambox or second computer setup for the streaming over network thing. If I didn't already have a cable running up here, I might feel differently about it, but for $15 I should hopefully be happy.

....now to figure out those linking options for emulators in Steam and getting proper custom icons for grid mode.
