I just found this on Operation Sports:
http://www.operationsports.com/features ... -a-chance/And I wanted to make a poll out of it and see what you guys say.
My simple opinion is yes. And this is just because of a couple reasons.
1. LIVE has ground to make up. This will obviously make it hard on them, but remember that EA Is a very dominate franchise and has many diehard fans, plus they're rich.

This "launch window" stuff is obviously a new factor to consider, but I'm still going to vote yes. I'll admit that's partly due to optimism and simply wanting to see it succeed, but I do think it has a chance as most of the buzz from people who have seen the game and had some hands-on time with it has been quite positive so far.
The other thing NBA Live 14 has going for it is that as great as NBA 2K has been the past few years, there are still frustrating issues that have people interested in an alternative. If nothing else, there's room on the market for more than one sim oriented NBA game. I expect 2K will deliver the goods, but it sounds like they do have some good stuff cooked up for NBA Live 14, if it all comes together. So yeah, I'd say there's room for it and it has a chance.

If they've a solid gameplay, nice footplanting in courts and nice ball physics like they said, they might have a chance...

Matthew Coe had some good points. There are people who are tired of 2K's style and are willing to try something new even if it's not as good. There will be people willing to jump to Live because they never really liked 2K's style, or are 2K looks like they are doing the same thing from their transition to xbox360/ps3 from xbox/ps2 and just improving the graphics a bit, but who knows since they are trying to sell their current gen version before revealing next gen features.
Regardless of cynics and hype machines, there is a lot of anticipation for Live 14. There will be people who want to jump on this new game to either talk their trash, or be a part of building it into a better game.

Ofc EA got a chance. Eletronic Arts are the best company on sports game history, imo.
They have a long tradition on games, they Always try to be accurated on players movements, Always seeking for perfection on motion, Always been great on graphics. It's not easy to be the number one year after year, so right now EA got a very serious competitor, as 2K Sports exploded with their spectacular games, EA got the chance to redeem themselves and they got plenty of time for doing this.
I hope they used well this time and learn their lessons. Finally would be Always great to see improvements and good competion, as almost all basketball fans wanna otpions from year to year, as time pass by.
The score is 7 to 0 right now as i can see. Everyone whom likes basketball would love to see EA back!

It's easy to be number one year after year if you buy an exclusive league license and shut out the competitor.

I agree with you Shadow, but what i wanna point is that they at least know the way to make good games.
Despite the fact you underline above.

It will be interesting to see the sales numbers given that the game is only on the new consoles. I would consider getting a new console if the reviews are great but otherwise I'll stick to 2k.

That's a good point. NBA 2K14 will have the most sales by default given that it will be available on more platforms, but the more important comparison would be the number of sales on the next gen consoles, since that's where they're going head to head.
Even then, I don't think NBA Live 14 necessarily has to have the most sales to be considered a success, though that's obviously still a long term goal. It's worth noting however that NBA Live was still the top selling (if not top rated) game up until NBA 2K9 outsold NBA Live 09, yet NBA 2K was being touted as the superior game for a few years before that. If NBA Live 14 can get a respectable market share, is well-received by critics, casual gamers and hardcore fans alike, ending up with a good metacritic score and positive word of mouth while winning back a decent amount of fans, then it will have made a successful comeback.
