the good thing is both will be aiming for a bigger contract in 2014, so there will be motivation for both to do well. Hope they up their rebounds and assists though.

Even if they do, Mike D'Antoni is the head coach. Don't forget that.

Here's to a deep draft!

I think they can run D' Antoni's system now, considering they got two players that may have the talent to do it.

Watched a Shaq documentary last night, makes me miss the days of dominant centers, not this euro-inspired pick & roll crap. Also Howard should lose the Superman nickname, guy can't even catch the ball properly. Shaq's passing was a-ma-zing.

Hope Roy Hibbert has a really good year this year, he's pretty fun to watch.

I don't understand why so many people/Laker fans think they can get Lebron. What reason would the guy have for leaving? Also, why do they want Carmelo? I've never been a fan & if it's about "passing the torch" after Kobe...it's not like Melo is young or anything.

I'm guessing (hoping?) they luck out on both, go for younger guys who can be part of the franchise for years to come & have room to grow. (Greg Monroe, Paul George or even John Wall even though I'm not that big of a fan.) All happen to be RFA's though, so there's that.

Going to be an interesting off-season in 2014. Really don't want Anthony though. :|

I guess it's another case of "because they're the Lakers". First of all, as a franchise, they've always been able to land on their feet and remain relevant, if not one of the leading contenders for the championship. Second, for some of the fans saying that, it might simply be arrogance: "They're the Lakers, of course LeBron will want to play for them".

We're sorry to inform you ... it doesn't seem very likely Carmelo Anthony will be dishing to Kobe Bryant any time soon, despite reports to the contrary. Anthony was leaving Craig's in Hollywood this week when we asked straight up if he could see himself in purple and gold after his contract with the Knicks runs out. CA's response? "Ummmmm, I doubt it."

That's music to my ears. I don't really like him as a player, never have.

Sounds more like a suggestion than a rumoured signing at this juncture, but it makes sense and wouldn't be a complete surprise if they've been that interested in him in the past. It wouldn't be an expensive roll of the dice for them.

They should make "the best" out of it and tank.

I think the Laker faithful will not be happy if their team intentionally sucked.

... if they could have a realistic chance on landing Wiggins or any other top 5 pick of the upcoming draft class, it could be worth it. And we're talking about the Lakers, they'll continue to sell tickets and jerseys.

I say 10th in the West, good enough for the 11th pick. Sucks to suck.

It depends pretty much on how Minnesota, Utah, Dallas and maybe even New Orleans are doing next season.
I everything goes wrong that could go wrong LAL could finish 13th just ahead of Sacramento and Phoenix...

Lakers introduce their Hollywood Nights uniforms

The Lakers will be wearing their black Hollywood Nights uniforms for select games this season. The new jerseys join the traditional purple and gold and the whites, which were introduced in 2002-03.

The organization has consistently heard from fans that a black uniform was desired, and have been working to make that a reality for years. The Lakers have a long history and philosophy of listening to fans, and as a public trust are in the business of serving fan interest, from colors of uniforms up to the ultimate goal of winning championships. The purple and gold uniforms will forever be the staple for the Lakers, with the black ones adding what the Lakers hope to be a cool alternative.

The Hollywood Nights theme in part acknowledges the celebrities like Jack Nicholson that have long supported the team, but also serves as a nod to the huge number of people that work behind the scenes to make up one of L.A.'s biggest industries.

Looks like an NBA Live fictional uniform.
