I own the first and second game, Ancient Adversaries, and The Frytan Wars. Both games are late 90s releases, I personally think they were a portion ahead of their time. I preferred the former more because of the availability of ships in the game. Along with trading resources by sea with other kingdoms.
I must say that it is one of the first [RTS] games I ever played on PC, and the large scale battles of hundreds if not sometimes thousands (If you and your adversary's kingdom becomes large enough) of units in one large blob of action or a spread out tactical siege of multiple forts or towns whilst fending off an incoming barrage of troops and weapons.
I still play both from time to time, they are in no way resource demanding on modern PCs. I'm wondering if Chan has abandoned this creation or if he plans on reviving it, there was another game released sometime in 2007 or 2008 "The Seven Kingdoms Conquest" needless to say I purchased the game without much thought and was thoroughly disappointed. Too many gameplay changes, along with an inferior engine it was an utter failure when compared to it's competition in the RTS market.
With that horrible travesty aside, I am much interested in another one that returns to the original gameplay format with perhaps some minor changes. Those being, simply, a better diplomacy system where you actually build a relation with the kingdoms you have as allies and perhaps obviously the development of troop trees with more diverse appearances in them; it's often become old to see the same unit for construction, military, espionage, and trade. I honestly wouldn't mind something like a HD remake, I just want another one of these games to come out.
Has anyone heard of or played any of these games before? I think Civilization was partially created or credited to Trevor Chan (at least the earlier ones?). Does anyone know of any news regarding this franchise? PS: I think that Enlight developed the game(s).
