Counter-Strike with the members :D

Yay. I thought it would be fun as hell if we (or atleast some of us) could play a counter-strike game against eachother.

I only got a 56k modem, but the ping ain't that bad so it's still very playable for me (However I suggest that someone else host the server).

What version of CS do you guys got? I got 1.5.

Anyone in?

Well, it only takes one sec to get the small (500 kb or something) steam install.. Then you install CS 1.6 in steam, and badaboom.. You are there.

But... whatever, 1.5 is cool.

if only my school didn't have a firewall then im in. even though im just an average-skilled player

btw, non-dedicated server means he's hosting the game but he's still playing the game as opposed to a dedicated server where he just hosts the game, so he's a pure host which makes it faster

When we find someone who is willing to host and are enough players.
Name the server: "NLSC" and choose the password "forum" I suggest to however that hosts.

Then we have to set up a time to play. Since everyone lives in different countries we can't set up a clock time. But for example: 24hours after this post. (Just an example)

Explosivo: have you found your cdkey yet? Otherwise it might workout in a other way

What does that steam stuff mean
I think I'm a CS n00b though I started to play from the 1.3 version. (I hardly never play online though)

Anyway who is in so far? And can You (the_game) host the server?

Well I don't think a server hosted by a 56k modem would be especially good.

CS used to be played through the 'Play Online' thing (think of your 1.3 days). After awhile, they made an online network called Steam. Over steam you could play betas of new versions and such. Eventually they make what was supposed to be the condition zero beta on steam, and now it's basically an upgraded cs on steam, version 1.6. You can install steam and play 1.6 with the riot shield and such, or you can stay with the old traditional WON way of joining servers. I've been playing on 1.6 for awhile, and I think it's much more fun. Some graphics are updated too. There's tons of servers so don't worry about that.

Also, on a side note, Valve announced they are shutting down the WON network July 26, so then everybody will use steam.

If you want to go to steam right now, do this:

Install half-life

On steampowered.com, click Get steam now at the top, then click and OPEN the steam installer.

Once you set up steam, you have to set up an account etc etc. Keep in mind your cd-key is bound to the account, so don't lose the account, change email and forget the account name, etc.

On the my games part, double click cs and it should download and install or whatever. You might have to do the same for halflife to update it too, but I don't remember.

As for the server, all we have to do is, browse the server list, and find a good low ping empty server and tell every1 the ip to join it. My friends and I did that all the time along time back when I was in my 'cs prime', and it worked fine.
