5 Things NBA 2K14 Needs to Do or Have

Shamelessly plugging the Friday Five here. A couple of months back, I wrote a piece talking about the five things that I feel NBA 2K14 needs to do or have:

Like the thread in the NBA Live 14 section, I'm posting it again here as I thought it might be fun to talk about while we're waiting for significant news and previews to start rolling in.

So...what are the five things that you feel NBA 2K14 needs to do or have to at least be satisfactory and encourage you to check it out?

-- better support for the pc version like you said without a doubt. i'd be glad to pay sixty bucks for the full nba 2k14 on pc.

-- true to life playbooks, or at least some half decent ones!

-- coupled with the above, a better ai that makes you feel as though you're playing against that particular team, and not an artificial cpu that cheats you.

that's all i really need... i want them to focus on true to life gameplay instead fancy dunks or worrying about the soundtrack

You summed it up on points 3 (bugs) and 5 (support for PC)....hell, give me the same NBA 2k13 game with the new rosters, with all the stuff they cutted for the PC version + solved bugs + support for PC and you have an excellent game.

Also like to add for MyCareer:

- Get rid of the stupid Rookie Showcase, bring the old 2k11 system back with the combine games + summer league + chance to be sent to the D league.

- For Christ/Allah/Buda sake, add home & away shoe colors for your player!!!!

I would like summer league to come back in 2k14

Maintain the same iff file and ros file formats
Require no post-release patching for glitches
Have some way to balance online post-release to avoid exploits, w/o patch
NG - Be nothing like CG, we know no Crew, so do something amazing
NG - Fully customizable cameras in replay mode, let us see all parts of this sexy game

Honestly - after reading their improvement list - if its implemented close to my assumptions - they have done enough to satisfy me. The ability to put body on ball handler, inside contact, new shot contest system, better AI, playbook improvements and court spacing pretty much knocks down most of my complaints. In my world, those things will help force guys to play basketball and not a video game. The closer they get to making guys respect the game, the better.

I am not a graphics guy but we really need more body types. When Nikola Pekovic and Kevin Love stand next to each other we should really see some body type differences. Same as Paul George next to kobe Bryant. Both same length but Kobe has that mature strength/weight that George doesn't have.

I wish they would allow my career to have multuple paths (lottery, late first round or 2nd/dleague talent). I like the slow journey to the pros spending some type overseas/dleague.

After I saw your message, I remembered my old post:

I wanna something like that for my career: different starting points...

a) You might be start a player from Euroleague and play some games in Euroleague before draft... And in our career we should be known a player like Manu, Parker, Gary Neal or any other Euroleague comer player: better fundementals and playmaking...

b) You might be a college player/star and play some college games before draft... In our career we should be mix of fundemental and variety skills... Like Carmelo, Durant...etc.

c) You might be a underdog player who starts from draft combine and play some games before draft... In our career we stay away from media attention and try to be a star from underdog status... (I've no example for this... )

d) You might be a streetball star and play some pickup games against Nba stars on street games before draft... In our career, we might be a player like Iverson, Starbury: selfish, ballhogger and having some problems about our disipline...

It'ld be awesome, wouldn't it??

I'm not sure i can think of 5 but here is my list

1) 2 Player MyPlayer Mode- take my player mode and have it where two people can be created and are in the summer circuit. competiting in a draft spot or could possibly end up on same team if team has two draft picks.


2) Draft List- this one is not necessarily but I talk about this alot. From year one of association to the current year who see a draft list. This consists of what year, draft order, team, player name, player height, position, weight, college. Just something that would be fun to implement into this game.


3) Slam Dunk/ Three Point Shootout- I want to see this into the game without having to go online to get it.

4) Summer League- you can turn this option off if you want. I would like to be able to try and develop my younger players on my team.

5) More Updates- Have TNT does this with Ernie Johnson, Shaquille O Neal, Kenny Smith and Charles Barkley. Talk about games, teams, things done in the offseason, predictions. Just would be a blast to have this in the game.
