seeing as the show made a ton of money and what not i am betting you are not alone, however, i am not a fan. then again i also hates seinfield so maybe my opinion does not matter? i am more of a fan of shows that follow a major storyline and not just a bunch of stand along episodes

YES FRIEND I also HUUUUUGE FAN of this show!!  It have lot of moments where I just have to spit my drinks because it so funny. Joey has best lines I thinking and Chandler is the best sarcasmist. Least favorite of all friends is Phoebe because she is much over the topping and just too much of oddball she not fit in story so well. :x

Old man SAURU you are not alone in being SOUR for Seinfeld, I dont like their show and he just has a big nose so I dont like it. I dont laugh and just switch the channel.

Are you kidding me? You hate Pheobe!! I love them all. Did you watch Matthew host Piers Morgan? It was pretty good. If I had to pick a favourite, it would be Chandler, even though I like them all in their own way. My favourite episode is the one where ross got high and the one at the beach.

Sauru, IN HEAT, Qballer - I hope you guys burn in hell for hating Seinfeld.

And by hell I mean be deported to Canada.

My favorite Friends episode was the final one because it means no more of that show again.

I'm a fan, though it's been a while since I sat down and watched a lot of episodes. It's probably not as high on my list as it used to be, but I feel the best jokes, moments and episodes do still hold up.

One of my favourite episodes is "The One Where No One Is Ready". I'm a fan of real time, "bottle" episodes in comedy series, as it provides an opportunity to have a lot of rapid fire, character-driven jokes.

It was entertaining enough in its original run, but I felt the show jumped the shark a bit when Monica and Chandler got together.

Looking back on it now, I feel it's gotten a bit dated. Plus viewing it for a second time has made the characters less likable for me. In fact, the only character I still like in the show is Joey.

I'm a fan as I said, but plenty of people dislike it. It's easy to say people dislike it out of principle because it was popular and that may hold true for some, but even as a fan I'd suggest there are plenty of valid reasons that people don't like it. Bottom line, that style of comedy isn't to everyone's liking and nothing is universally loved.

I tend to agree with a lot of that. I think at times it doesn't get enough credit for its high points, because there was some very good writing in the early seasons. However, other shows have come along since that have experimented more with the formula, taken chances and done certain things better, which helps make Friends look weaker and more dated; well, that and the premiere was almost 20 years ago now.

It also simply fell victim to a problem that almost always affects a long running series: after a while, the characters became caricatures of themselves (Flanderization, for the Tropers in the audience). The writers found that certain jokes worked or that certain character traits were funny and resonated with the audience, so they started going to that same well one too many times, exaggerating the traits that were getting a laugh while downplaying the ones that balanced out the characters.

I don't get how Big Bang Theory has such a huge following and Friends has so many haters. The show was great at that time. Chandler is one of the funniest characters in TV history.

I liked Seinfeld as well. Although, Jerry over-acted a bit, the show was still pretty good.

Right now, The Big Bang Theory is a show that's still on the air and doing well (I'm a fan of it myself), so for a lot of people it's the in-thing while Friends is well and truly yesterday's news. That said, I think you'll find a lot of people dislike TBBT; like I said nothing is universally liked. Some dislike out of principle because it's popular or a style they don't hold in high esteem in general, but since no show is perfect or to everyone's tastes, once again there are valid reasons not to like it, same as anything else.

I quite enjoy The Big Bang Theory. Jim Parsons is hilarious, and they haven't really overused one formula, although I can make Friends comparisons about some of the characters:

Penny and Leonard-Ross and Rachel
Sheldon-Kind of a mix between Monica, Chandler, and a very very little bit of Joey.

The Big Bang Theory is far easier to find haters for. (Especially after it seemed to be murdering off Community.) In most infamous and hilarious fashion: http://butmyopinionisright.tumblr.com/p ... ang-theory

Why don’t I like The Big Bang Theory anymore? I think at first I was so happy to see people like me represented on mainstream television that I ignored the cruelty behind the humour. As I continue to watch the programme and see more and more repeats on E4 in the daytime it’s become much clearer that actually I’m not being represented. I’m being ridiculed.

Friends was a top five rated show during its entire run but the first season and even that managed to be top ten. The Big Bang Theory by comparison has only been top ten in the last two seasons and top five once. Its single highest rated episode got less viewers than Friends averaged for its last five seasons. (The secret? Women.) Friends has easily had a far larger cultural and industry impact.

Yeah, I've seen quite a few comments along those lines, such as calling it "blackface for nerd culture" (or words to that effect). Personally, I think that's invoking some comedic equivalent to Godwin's Law and being way too precious and touchy about things.

Because the other Asian nerds are too busy making money to hang out with academics and scientists like the nerds of the show are.

If they had an Asian like Chinese or Japanese along with the Indian and the other 2 American dudes, that show would have gotten slammed with racism remarks. Why no black genius?

I used to watch it, but sometime around 2001 I started to get angry at laugh tracks and that type of "comedy". Seinfeld is an exception, but most laugh track comedies have that style of writing and delivery which isn't my thing anymore.
