They should also bring back DJ Mbenga. They seriously need a stud at the 5 position.

Sacre is the Second Coming of Mbenga. No need.

Hah!

Iirc I read Kobe's injury takes 9-12 months to recover? He was injured in April. This means he'll come back in Jan if everything goes well. Then it takes a month or two to fully get back into a game shape. Nash and Gasol are old too, probably will go through similar nagging injury issues for next season. You are possibly looking at a team that will heavily rely on Jordan Hill and Meeks each and every night and you expect them to be better next season.

Sauru. You are betting your money on the wrong side, you might as well spend it wisely and donate to a local boysNgals charity or something. The Lakers aren't gonna win 45 games.

He's supposedly aiming to return at the beginning of the season, which is admirable and you'd expect nothing less of such a competitor, but it might not be such a wonderful idea. The last I read, he's currently walking with a noticeable limp, which suggests he's still a long way away from being 100% with the season a little over three months away. If he's nowhere close to being able to return come the beginning of the season, attempting it could ultimately turn out to be detrimental to the team, not to mention the risk he'd be running of putting himself on the shelf again.

Right on the money.

Anyone thinks he can really play at 100% before at least couple months into season is deluded. I like German technology and their treatment too but they need to stop downplaying seriousness of his injury. Sauru already knows the Lakers are a serious contender to Wiggins race. We might as well consider either Jabari/Wiggins a Lakers already.

“I’m not taking any at all – that’s the negotiation that you have to have.” Kobe Bryant told Lakers Nation in an exclusive interview at his Kobe Basketball Academy on Wednesday. “For me to sit here and say, ‘Oh yeah, I’m just going to take a huge pay cut. Nah, I’m going to try to get as much as I possibly can.”

I hope he isn't being serious. :?

Black Mamba over Rose any day. Kobe has just got that killer mentality. And Rose is just broken now mentally and perhaps a bit physically as well. If he had the Kobe mentality, he would have probably played against Miami.

If then, he's max worthy. He's not a max performance player but he still can sell tickets and TV deals.

In all seriousness though, I don't think he was being too serious in that interview.

I really would hope not.

I'm really hoping the Josh Smith to Detroit deal makes Monroe expendable next year, so much so that they don't match any offer given by the Lakers if they choose to do so.

And in other news Nick Young has signed with LA for one year for the vets minimum.

Signing Kobe-lite while Kobe is out. Wise decision.

The Los Angeles Lakers have waived forward Metta World Peace and have designated him as the team’s amnesty player as allowed by the Collective Bargaining Agreement, it was announced by General Manager Mitch Kupchak. “It’s tough to say goodbye to a player such as Metta, who has been a significant part of our team the past four seasons. For anyone who’s had the opportunity to get to know him, it’s impossible not to love him,” said Kupchak. “He has made many contributions to this organization, both in his community work as well as in our games; perhaps no more so than in his clutch play in Game 7 of the 2010 NBA Finals in helping to lead us over the Celtics in one of the greatest playoff wins in Lakers history. We thank Metta for all his contributions and wish him the best of luck in the future.”

Well damn, real shame to lose Ron-Ron. :(

The Los Angeles Lakers have agreed to a one-year contract with small forward Wesley Johnson, a league source confirmed to ESPNLosAngeles.com's Dave McMenamin.

Johnson's deal will be for the veteran minimum, the source said.

It's not flat out amazing but he comes cheap and will be gone next year.

Damn, LA still stocks up talents despite their very limited resources. I guess they won't tank that much.

Wesley Johnson and Nick Young both are terrible. They are below average players.

They are both playing for the veteran's minimum which is not very bad.

I hope Chris Douglas Roberts gets a chance this year with LA, especially with Kobe being out & the team lacking athleticism.
