"Kobe talked to Dwight in a way that I don't think anyone one had ever talked to him – not in Orlando, not here, not in his life, I'm betting," one witness in the room told Yahoo! Sports. "He's been coddled, and Kobe wasn't going to coddle him."

Can you even begin to imagine what Jordan would have done to him?

What is L.A.'s Plan B in free agency? Earl Clark is not returning.

I doubt they have one right now, they'll probably even take a financial hit & keep Artest around because they are so thin on capable players. Some rumors about them reaching out to Lamar Odom but I think that's to be taken with a grain of salt.

But yeah, the team won't be anything special this year with a line up of Gasol/Hill/MWP/Meeks or Blake & Nash. I just hope it's bad enough for them to lose D'Antoni, I don't know how much more of him pretending to be a coach on the sidelines I can take.

Jack should knock him over just for the heck of it.

i imagine odom would have to sign for the minimum so with pau/odom/mwp/meeks/nash with blake & hill off the bench, that's not a bad lineup to play up-tempo d'antoni style offense

That they're the Lakers, I guess. Traditionally that seems to be one of their main pitches and to their credit, it's often worked.

Which is something that got a lot harder with the current CBA.

Kaman’s deal is valued at the Lakers’ mini mid-level exception amount of just under $3.2 million, sources told ESPNLosAngeles.com’s Ramona Shelburne.

Nice. The Heat could have afforded that. Damn...

It seems like that's at least been a part of their pitch over the years. "We're the Lakers, we're one of the most successful organisations in league history, this is LA, you should want to play here and wear the purple and gold." That seemed to be the attitude they were displaying towards Dwight Howard, which given the circumstances was probably best for both sides moving forward.

But yeah, the money certainly doesn't hurt.

Jordan Farmar returns to the Lakers.
Jordan Farmar has agreed to sign with the Los Angeles Lakers, the veteran guard told ESPNLosAngeles.com Tuesday night.

The sides agreed to a one-year, veteran minimum deal worth approximately $1 million. L.A. must first negotiate a buyout with Farmar's club in Turkey, Anadolu Efes, which is believed to be in the $500,000 range. The buyout does not count against the salary cap, an important detail to the luxury tax-laden Lakers.

Next thing you know, they'll exploit a little known loophole by amnestying Metta World Peace, having him change his name back and then signing Ron Artest for the veteran minimum. Getting Bynum back might be a bigger challenge.
