Dwyane Wade Dynasty

I regret to inform everyone (especially those who liked my Sonics dynasty), but I had a problem with my computer. It wouldn't boot up period. The only solution was to format C and reinstall Windows. Now obviously that erases everything on C (including the saves)... I thought I could avoid overwriting my saves and corrupted saves by making backups, but the backup was on C, so...

... on to the next one ..

This is a Dwyane Wade dynasty. I call it that because in this dynasty, I only play with Wade. I turned player lock onto PG, and I use offensive sets. When Wade has to sit out for any reason (injury, fouls, fatigue) I throw in his backup, and I hand it over to the CPU. So basically the only player I use is Dwyane Wade. Here's some settings for this dynasty:

I'm also thinking of making pregame reports just to spice things up. I don't really have a lot of patches right now, but that will change soon. Another note, each Sunday is a Hardwood Classic night.

Miami Pregame show
Game 1

This is the first game for both teams (and in the entire league, actually) and both teams are looking for a win. Philadelphia is looking forward to winning on their home court, and Miami is looking forward to winning with their new squad. Both teams are very similar on offense, as they try to push the ball to get easy points, especially with former league MVP Allen Iverson.

Fierce Opponent

(unfortunately there are no pictures available due to the fact that this is the first game of the entire league)

Allen Iverson

Not only is Iverson quick, he's a great defender, and if you don't pay attention, he'll snatch the ball from right under your nose. He's extremely quick, and if you don't watch him, he'll go coast to coast in no time.

Iverson is a superstar on this team, and while Miami has no clear superstar, they're not gonna let that bother them. Miami is gonna give them all they've got.

Miami wins league opener, Wade explodes

The final score - 104 to 93

Miami was able to win their season opener, but it didn't come easy. They started out strong, and pulled to an early 10 point lead. Dwyane Wade had to sit out the last 6 minutes of the 1st quarter due to foul trouble, but that didn't stop him from having an excellent game. Miami rookie Dwyane Wade scored a whopping 23 points, 15 rebounds and 14 assists, earning a triple double in the first game of his NBA career. The really spectacular aspect of this really shows Wade's potential. ALL 15 of his rebounds were OFFENSIVE. The rest of the team was shooting poorly, Lamar Odom 31%, Eddie Jones 30%, and so on, but Dwyane Wade wasn't about to give up. Miami was down 10 by the half, and halfway through the 3rd, they fell down by 20 points. At this point, Miami slowly but surely regained the lead under Dwyane Wade's limitless energy. Eventually the final horn sounded and Miami took this game by 9.

Dwyane Wade had 14 assists in the first game of his rookie campaign.

Wade: I just didn't want to give up. It's my rookie campaign and I want it to be something to remember

Game 2

These teams both like to dump the ball inside, however Boston has a wealth of 3 point shooters. They have Chuky Atkins, Paul Pierce, Jiri Welsch, and even Raef Lafrentz can knock down the occasional 3 pointer. Miami needs to play some tough man to man defense.

Paul Pierce

Paul Pierce is a very versatile player. He's consistent on every spot on the court. He's not called The Truth for nothing, he's the real deal. He can slam it down just as easily as he can knock down 3's. Watch for Boston to feed off his play and bring them energy. Boston has serveral good players, and one especially great player, Paul Pierce. Many people think this team won't go very far, but they will be tough for Miami to defeat.

Wade gets the TD, but fails to get the W

The final score - 92 to 112

Dwyane Wade does it again. He achieved his 2nd triple double in a row, but it came at a price. Miami was blown out of this game, a game many thought they would win. No players on Miami shot well except for Wade. Lamar Odom was keeping them in the game with 25 points, but he was only shooting 39%. Caron Butler had 6 points on 2 for 8 shooting, and Brian Grant was plauged with foul trouble that prevented him from getting time, and he shot 2 for 14. Mark Blount had a lot of playing time and surprised Miami with his strong play. Paul Pierce was torching Miami shooting 50% from the field. Walter McCarty was also on fire, shooting 71% which eventually led this game to a blowout. Miami did not get several calls however, which can be very questionable. They believe they simply need to play better defense.

Dwyane Wade earned his 2nd triple double in a row, also the 2nd triple double of his professional career.

Player of the Game - Mark Blount

Blount: It shows them how good a player I am. I don't get many opportunities to prove that.

Question 2: What do you think about Miami's poor shooting?

Blount: They were just out of rhythm, they were missing everything, E-Jones was missing wide open 3's too. But Wade was doing his part.

Question 3: How well do you think you have done as a team?

Blount: I think we executed well and played great defense.

Game 3

Detroit has tough defense. They've got a versatile swingman Tayshaun Prince, a very tough opponent to shoot over, with his 7+ foot wingspan. They also have 2 time defensive player of the year Ben Wallace. So far Miami already has trouble with other teams defense, and if they continue to falter, they could shoot VERY poorly against Detroit.

Fierce Opponent

Richard Hamilton

Richard Hamilton aka "Rip" is a fast opponent. He is known for showing the true meaning of haste while off the ball. It's very hard for defenders to keep up with Rip. In their first game, against Indiana, Hamilton tore up Indiana veteran Reggie Miller. Eddie Jones will have to be quick on his feet on AND off the ball to defend Richard Hamilton.

Reggie Miller was too old to keep up with Rip.

Detroit stuns Miami crowd

The final score - 68 to 117

The predictions were right. If Miami couldn't shoot well against other teams, they would surely falter against Detroit, and they did, being COMPLETELY shut out of this game by 49 points. Miami's leading scorer was Lamar Odom, with 15 points, while Detroit's leading scorer was Richard Hamilton at 25. Rasheed Wallace scored 20, Prince 16, Billups 18, and an unexpected Mike James at 17. Ben Wallace only had 4 points, but 16 rebounds, including 1 offensive. Nothing went right for Miami, as they shot 30% for the game, and Detroit shot an astonishing 58%. Miami needs to shape up it's offense before they can expect to go very far.

Dwyane Wade only scored 12 points, but his strong hustle play was surely a thing to watch.

Hamilton: It's always great to win. But to beat a team by this much, on their turf, is amazing.

Question 2: Miami was struggling to score, what are your thoughts on this?

Hamilton: I think we're just playing great defense, and we got Ben Wallace, he's a great defender.

Question 3: Your team seems to be playing well early on. Miami isn't having much success though. Do you think Miami will shape up?

Hamilton: Yeah, I think they will, they have a drastically different team, but they'll start playing better together.

The month in review
October

Although October only has a few games for each team, it's the start of the season, where newly rebuilt teams compete. Some teams stay the same as last year, some teams are completely rebuilt to become championship contenders again. Miami came to town with a very different roster. One of the worst teams in the NBA last year, Miami now has former Clipper Lamar Odom, and very promising rookie Dwyane Wade, who gained 2 triple doubles in 3 games. The Los Angeles Lakers have a new fab 4 team, and are looking to cruise to an easy trophy. The Los Angeles Clippers have a talented team that are hoping to reach the playoffs. Cleveland has 1st overall pick Lebron James, and they look to have a much better record this year. Miami hasn't done well so far, with most of it's players averaging lower than 40%. Hopefully by the end of November Miami will have shaped up enough to be even considered dangerous.

Game 4

Dallas has a lot of talent. They have Michael Finley, Steve Nash, Antoine Walker, and one of the best international players, Dirk Nowitzki.

Fierce Opponent

Michael Finley

Michael Finley is a very tough opponent. He is usually near the top in minutes per game. He is great conditioning, and can run the floor all game without showing any signs of tiredness. In a game against the Lakers earlier this season, Finley scored 37 points, in a 109-94 win. Kobe was completely out of it, and only scored 13 points while being guarded by Michael Finley. If Finley keeps this up, he can be a handful for both Eddie Jones and Caron Butler.

Michael Finley left the Lakers in the dust.

Not only does Dallas have tons of offensive talent, they have very well conditioned players that are all willing to run the break. This makes it very tough for Miami, since they can survive in both half court offense and an up tempo game. Michael Finley is just one great example of this team's conditioning.

Finley goes 1 on 1 with Kobe.

Miami blown out... again

The final score - 108 to 134

The good thing about this game is that Miami shot a solid 46%... the bad thing is Dallas shot even better, shooting 56%. This is the 2nd highest shot % of the opposing teams, behind Detroit's 58% from the previous game. It seems that Miami has shaped up it's offense, and are shooting a much better percentage, but now the problem is defense. Dallas had 26 fast break points. Michael Finley really put on a show with his 18 points, shooting 53%. However, Michael Finley's minutes were cut short, because a lot of time was given to the new Dallas 6th man Antawn Jamison, scoring 27 points on 8 for 12 shooting. Although a loss, Miami has taken another step toward victory, and that is a higher % offense. Lamar Odom carried the team with 27 points, despite despite leaving the 1st quarter early due to a stomach cramp. Upcoming rookie Dwyane Wade seems to have cooled off considerably from his debut performances, but he still dishes out loads of assists.

Despite having a stomach cramp, Lamar Odom was able to post 27 points.

Player of the Game - Steve Nash

Question 1: How does it feel to have another one of those great nights?

Nash: It feels great I got 8 assists a bucketload of points and we blew them out.

Question 2: What do you think Miami did wrong in terms of defense?

Nash: They let us push the ball way too much. They tried pushing the ball too, but we stopped them. They didn't stop us and it led to a lot of easy baskets.

Question 3: Do you think Miami did a good job in rebuilding their team?

Nash: I think they did, it's a great team right now, they just need to get it together.

Both teams are off to a bad start. San Antonio, the defending champions, are off to a 1-3 start. Their only win was against Phoenix, and the main reason was because of their X-Factor, Bruce Bowen.

Bruce Bowen

Bruce Bowen isn't exactly the superstar player you might imagine at first. He is a role player. He is a great 3 point shooter, and a great defender. Tagged, "The Kobe Stopper," Bruce Bowen is supposedly able to shut down the fiercest of competitors, including Kobe Bryant. If he's on defense, he's gonna make things happen. If he's on offense, he'll spot up for the occasional 3 pointer. Miami is going to have to plan out how to get around Bowen if they want any chance of winning this game.

Bruce Bowen will put a lot of pressure on Miami tonight.

Heat burn Spurs, Odom saves game

The final score - 118 to 112

In what seemed one of the most improbable games to win, Miami came out victorious for a change. Miami shot a streaky hot 54% while the defending champions shot 46%. Caron Butler finally had a solid game, with 23 points shooting 45%, and grabbing 6 boards and 4 assists. Dwyane Wade is still the playmaker, dishing out mind boggling numbers of assists. Eddie Jones' 30 points torched San Antonio with 59% accuracy. Brian Grant grabbed 18 rebounds to go with 15 points. Lamar Odom only had 12 points, but not only did Tim Duncan only score 9, Lamar Odom came up big to win the game. Tony Parker, Hedo Turkoglu, Manu Ginobili, and Bruce Bowen were carrying the team from downtown during the 4th quarter. It was a close nailbiting contest throughout. The score was 114-116 with Miami on the possession. Dwyane Wade was double teamed, and as the shot clock ran out, dished it off to an open Eddie Jones in the corner to shoot a huge 3 that would give them a 5 point lead. Eddie Jones shot, and missed, but Lamar Odom springs out of nowhere with the putback jam, to put them up 4, 114-118 with 27.2 seconds left on the clock! This was a huge basket, and was the reason Miami came out victorious in this nail biting contest.

Heat forward Lamar Odom only scored 12 points, but slammed home a huge putback jam to seal the game.

Question 1: How would you compare this game to your team's previous games?

Wade: We really pushed the ball, we did good in half court, and we really played some good defense.

Question 2: What impact did Bruce Bowen make?

Wade: First off, he didn't do anything to us on defense. Caron Butler has been struggling all season long and had a breakout game against whos supposed to be the "Kobe Stopper". I guess this is why they don't call him the "Caron Stopper".

Question 3: How are you dishing out so many assists?

Wade: Most of our players don't score by doing work, they score off of passes. I make a lot of those passes. I get assists for them.

Minnesota is a strong team this year. They have Latrell Spreewell, Sam Cassell, and of course, Kevin Garnett.

"The Kid" went from a player out of high school to an NBA superstar. He's been in the league for 8 years, and he's only getting better and better.

Kevin Garnett has the size to post up small defenders.

KG can get his shot off anytime he wants. He really worked on it through the years, and it's just plain deadly. He's a great low post scorer, and he loves to shoot mid range fadeaways.

He also has the speed and athletisicm to drive by bigger defenders.

Kevin Garnett is a very dedicated player. He always practices whenever he can, and he's been doing it since he was little. He would go to the park all day and just practice. He's become a great shooter and a great crunch time player.

Garnett can handle the ball like a point guard.

Garnett is one of the best all around players since Magic Johnson. He can play ALL positions on the court. He has the size to power down smaller defenders, the speed to get past bigger defenders, and the ball handling to play the point and play it well.

He has extremely long arms.

Kevin Garnett is a very gifted athelete. He has extremely long arms, and he knows how to use them to grab boards. He's one of the best rebounders in the league and can also use those arms to get in your face.

Kevin Garnett is one of the best to ever play the game.

Minnesota survives in overtime

The final score - 106 to 107

This was a very thrilling game for Miami Heat fans. The game started off very close, basket for basket, miss for miss. Miami is finally to play well. Caron Butler has also shaped up in the past 2 games, and that's a good sign, because his poor play this season was about to get him traded. He almost achieved a triple double. He had 16 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists. He also gained 3 steals, all in the final 4 minutes of the 4th quarter on. Miami built a 10 point lead early in the 2nd, and it looked like they would cruise to victory, but Minnesota fought back. Surprisingly, Kevin Garnett got 4 fouls in the first 2 minutes of the game before being sent to the bench for much of the rest of the game. He was held scoreless as he only played 12 minutes. Minnesota slowly but surely crept back into the game, until the game was 98-98, final possession by Minnesota. Several times Minnesota jumped out to a 5 point lead, but they were all cut short by the strong crunch time defense by Caron Butler. Sam Cassell shot for the win, but missed, and Dwyane Wade rushed to the other end of the court and shot a 40 footer, but it was off, and the game was going to overtime. Minnesota jumped to a 5 point lead, but again, Caron Butler came up with huge defensive stops. Sam Cassell and Latrell Spreewell were carrying the team however, scoring 32 and 28 respectively. Dwyane Wade used the final possession to shoot the final shot, but he missed, and Miami loses, 107-106.

Minnesota was able to creep back into the game and win it, all without the need for Kevin Garnett.

Question 1: What were you thinking when Garnett got 4 fouls?

Cassell: I was thinking, oh my god, take him out already! I was so surprised and thought the game was over by then, but I didn't stop trying.

Question 2: Lamar Odom was tearing it up down low, do you think he would have done the same if KG was in the game?

Cassell: No, no I don't. It would have been a blowout.

Question 3: Did you think Wade would make that shot?

I did, but I didn't think he would take it. They put in Alston, and I thought they were planning on giving it to him, but I guess they ran out of time.

In the player profiles in the select controller screen, the player lock defaults to 'unlocked'... just change it to a position.
