Aw man, I just had my hopes raised and had them dashed in the same breath :'(. I was watching the presentation and saw what I thought was an example of a player model within the game. It looked so perfect.

Only to find that this is the actual player model:

Ugh.

lol at EA hyping features again, haven't they learned from Elite 11.
Elite 11: HANDS-ON CONTROL!
Live 14: BOUNCETEK!
Also lol at CourtQ, as Andrew observed it's basically Dynamic DNA.
RENAMING IT SO IT LOOKS LIKE A BRAND NEW FEATURE!
8:39 AM - Zap Rowsdower: dribbling is an important part of the game (irl)?!?! [/sarcasm]
8:40 AM - Zap Rowsdower: haha the player model on the screen is like the player model on the ignite announce trailer
8:40 AM - Zap Rowsdower: but much better now
8:41 AM - Zap Rowsdower: kyrie forgot about leg day but worked out his shoulders
8:41 AM - Zap Rowsdower: dat shiny pants from kyrie
8:42 AM - Zap Rowsdower: OMG A CLIP OF KYRIE SHOOTING OVER KOBE! BOOOOOO
8:44 AM - Zap Rowsdower: =S
8:44 AM - Zap Rowsdower: bulltrailer
8:44 AM - Zap Rowsdower: mostly CGI
8:44 AM - Stelio Kontos: it's CG with "ingame assets"
8:44 AM - Zap Rowsdower: lol
8:46 AM - Zap Rowsdower: if the early and last part of the video are the game itself...looks like other defenders still don't give a shite about the ball
8:46 AM - Stelio Kontos: i don't think any of it is the game
8:46 AM - Zap Rowsdower: nice shoes though
8:46 AM - Stelio Kontos: not even the "menus"
8:46 AM - Zap Rowsdower: giving EA the benefit of the doubt
8:46 AM - Zap Rowsdower: lol
8:47 AM - Zap Rowsdower: i meant early and last part of the trailer. before it changes to the obvious CGI and reverts back to kyrie shooting a j
8:48 AM - Zap Rowsdower: kobe christ it is the same player model in the ignite announce trailer
8:48 AM - Zap Rowsdower: difference is the textures, they more black now. racist
8:48 AM - Zap Rowsdower: and deandre jordan has a terrible block animation
8:48 AM - Zap Rowsdower: must be from an old live

Andrew wrote:I can confirm it's CGI but does use some in-game assets (including Kyrie Irving's stationary dribble). That makes it interesting but once again, it's tough to glean too much from a short trailer that doesn't feature any actual in-game footage.
The details on the official site are interesting as well, though we still need to see them in action and experience them for ourselves before we can say much either way. CourtQ sounds like the next step in Dynamic DNA, which makes sense given that EA renewed their partnership with Synergy. Seems Live Worlds will have something to do with that too, if they're talking about fresh content daily. BounceTEK sounds good, hopefully the animations are also looking pretty good on top of the physics and responsiveness of the controls.
Nobody will be satisfied until they see this game in full 5 on 5 motion!!! They've already had this BounceTek feature in past games, it's pretty much an improved version of the dribble stick, I hope it's as responsive as they say though!!

No, of course not.

This continues to be a dumb idea.
So instead of getting it the day after in Live 10, you get it the hour after the game is over

Ben has historically found having formulas without human input on roster updates to be a faulty technique...iirc.

Mostly opposite, the problem I have with the "last game" or "last ten games" thing is it's mathematically dumb (tiny sample size) and the way they say it's done affects everything.
So say you start your dynasty the day after Willie Burton drops 56...
And for what, so you can "recreate" the last game in exhibition mode or something?

I did a compilation of every face I could:

It's basically the dice roll. This player gets a boost, this player gets cold, and it affects the gameplay.
Tue Jun 11, 2013 3:00 pm
I don't see any mention of an extra controller. I might be suckered into that if they do.
Tue Jun 11, 2013 3:13 pm
oh snap, they removed the extra controller?!?!!
Tue Jun 11, 2013 3:33 pm
was is being sold for 519 before like this?
http://www.gamestop.com/ps4/consoles/pl ... s=B020384Hif it was $519, that's stupid, it's not even a discount. why not just buy everything separately?
Tue Jun 11, 2013 3:46 pm
No, the single game bundles were up for $459 with an extra controller. Somebody must have fucked up and then they realized they were giving the controllers away.

Hourly updates would probably work out alright for a mode like Dynamic Season, where each game has its own lineups and data accurate as of that date. I'm guessing that means Dynamic Season (or a re-branding of it) is in the game, which isn't a bad thing. I thought it was an interesting alternative to Dynasty Mode. As benji said though, such a sample size isn't particularly accurate for modifying the base roster.

hourly update? thats awesome. Graphics looks good too. one thing i dont like about live 13 is the players body they look all the same, i cant seem to recognize them from a farther angle. unlike 2k one glance and you know who that player is, even if they messed up with the faces.. in the teaser i thought it was Paul guarding Kyrie on the final seconds of the clip then suddenly the camera angle changed it was DJ. compare this 2k with nba live? 2k is is like 10 steps moving forward away from them..

This is one usage that escaped my mind (probably because it's been so long) although I have quibbles with its inherent design.
I wonder if there's a license restriction that makes it so you can't replay the PREVIOUS season in this fashion with all the games logged like that. You could eventually use the technology and signing up old timers like 2K has done to replay former seasons. Avoid Westbrook or Kobe's injuries for these playoffs. Or run the Lakers properly from the start. Have no injured Rose. Start Andre every game and go 78-4. etc.
Tue Jun 11, 2013 10:48 pm
I guess if you never went online to get the updates, you could possibly do that. From memory, there was 2009 season data in NBA Live 10's Dynamic Season by default, though I could be mistaken.

I'd prefer a multistatus system. Last season*, start of season, to date, and then the dumb hourly update DUDE IS HOT whatever bullshit.
*Though going back farther would be awesome and doesn't seem like it'd be too absurd to automatically do once the system is in place.
