Why is Foyle getting 41 million?

im telling you look at his numbers.You need to double them to get starters numbers and you get very close to Ben Wallace numbers. He might be able to put fear in defenders like Ben does...he seem slike a monster on blocks
Now if he is coming off the bench, then this is a terrible move.

(btw i dont watch warriors game so i don't know much about him but the numbers are so similar to ben wallace...and its not like he gets darko minutes, he gets good minutes off the bench)

I watch a lot of Warriors and he is nowhere near Big Ben's level. He doesn't have the hops (although he does have a good 3 inches on Wallace), he doesn't have nearly as good timing, not the same stamina/endurance, not the same skill that Ben has to avoid foul (get this, Wallace never fouled out in the regular season and only once in the playoffs...you watch him and you know why, he's so adept at avoiding contact when he goes for a block). Foyle also never fouled out, but how many games did he start? 10? Foyle has a long way to go to be Ben Wallace. The one thing he does have on Wallace is post scoring (although Big Ben has a better jumper).

Yes he got a little too much, he should've gotten 5 years 30 million, but that's out of the way.

Foyle is definately not a bad player, his offense has drastically improved, his footwork is much better now, and he's able to hit the mid-range jumpr if it's given to him.
He's a great leader, defensive stopper, and he's a beast on the baords.

You talk about him averaging 4.6 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 1.84 blocks, but that's in 18.8 minutes a game.

Per 40 minutes thats: 9.8 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 3.9 blocks. Also his fouls are only 4.89 fouls per 40 minutes, meaning he isn't Chris Andersen who get's blocks but would foul out in 27 minutes a game.
Also he isn't Tractor Traylor who is very skilled and per minute puts up good numbers, but has horrible stamina and can't play more the 20 MPG. Or like someone like Jerome James Olive Miller etc.

Look at 00-01, he averaged 5.9 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 2.69 blocks, in 25.1 minutes a game.

Give this guy about 32 minutes a game, and he'll give you about 8-9 points a game, 9+ rebounds, and 2.5+ blocks a game. Not too bad for a center, and like I said, Centers are always overpaid.


Also Foyle is only 28, so he's no ancient man, this deal expires when he's 33, which is perfect.

Well fgrep15 I'll go with you there then... I'm a Warriors fan but it's been one season since I don't watch their games on TV... But I've seen like 5 to 8 games of Foyle playing and I really didn't like what I saw...

man there must really be a shortage of decent players. The last couple of years everybody's been talking about the luxury tax, and saving money and all that, and now all of a sudden they're spending big on average players. Foyle was always a descent defender/shotblocker, though and undersized one. Oh well, poor Warriors.

Cause hes a taller version of a ben wallace, just waiting for oppurtunity.

In the 2002/2003 season he had numbers of 5.4ppg 6.0rpg 2.5bpg 53%FG in 21.8mpg. 82GP 0GS
that aint to bad.
I mean hes 2nd on the Warriors franchise all-time blocking leaders, and 99-00 00-01 were the only years he started more than 50% of games.

Now i heard Dampier may leave, so this gives Foyle that oppurtunity.

If you want to spend money on a big man, why not go for Etan Thomas? That guy certainly proved something last year and is definitely better than Foyle.

Dampier doesn't want to stay. That's why he opted out of his contract.

Foyle's health and endurance are big question marks. How many times has he played more than 30 mpg in one season and played more than 65 games (I think his max is 66 games)? So he's been productive as a backup and has shown promise as a starter, but how many games will he miss? without a doubt, his defense and leadership are HUGE, but i think 5years/30 million is still overpaying him a bit.

No luxury tax this season. That results in:

Adonal Foyle: 5 years $41 Mill
Carlos Boozer: 6 years $61 Mill
Brian Skinner: 5 years $25 Mill
Carlos Arroyo: 4 years $16 Mill
Hidayet Turkoglu: 6 years $39 Mill
Steve Nash: 6 years $66 Mill
Quinten Richardson: $50 Mill
Rafer Alston: 6 years $29 Mill (seems very underpayed after looking at Hedo and Blount...)
Troy Hudson offer: 5 years $25 Mill (as a backup to an All-NBA Second Teamer)
Emanuel Ginobili: 6 years (starting at) $9 Mill per year

Etan played horrible as a starter, worse than off the bench, no one will give him that much money.

Dampier made 8 million last season and opted out from an 8 points something million dolalr contract, he wants 10 million.

those two definitely did not get the best deals out of their outstanding season.
