Magic offer 39mill to Turkoglu

Postby Amphatoast on Thu Jul 08, 2004 8:33 am

6 year $39million the Magic offered Hedo Turkoglu.

all i gotta say is that all these deals have been pretty high priced for players im not sure who are deserving of the value of money they getting. Lots of proving will have to be made this season I guess.

I must agree with you because he is a good player don't get me wrong. He is just not a 36 Million 6 year man, in my opinion.

It's their money to spend and it's their loss to have.

If he signs, I do hope he helps the Magic because even though T-Mac left I still love the Magic :applaud:

WTF... From the same producers of Adonal Foyle's 41 million contract... Hedo Turkoglu's 39 million contract!

It's gonna be a long summer... I'll pretend the NBA is gone till November to not be frustrated...

with all these over payed players, looks like all the top calibre players are gonna have to accept smaller contracts :)

SJax would've been a far better signing in a similar price range. He's a better defender, slasher, inside scorer, rebounder, quicker, faster...didn't choke in the playoffs with Duncan. Hedo only has a better shot and arguably better passing.

NBA teams are going crazy, Ginobili, Foyle, Nash, now Turkoglu, all getting payed way too much.

No defense, just shooting and height Turkoglu getting 6.5 million a year, do these teams think someone else will steals these guys: Ginobili for more than 7 million a year, Nash for more than 10 million a year and 4 years, Foyle for more than 5.5-6 million a year, and Turkoglue for more than 4.5 to at most 5 million a year.

Nash is the only debatable one with Dallas.

it seems as though teams are under pressure to get to the playoffs and are willing to over pay to get there. But once they get there, they can't get any further because these contracts become obstacles. Nobody so far deserves the contract they received. None of these guys are stars (Nash maybe), and yet they get close to $10 mill. Ridiculous

Nash is on the decline, unless he can thrive under the system at Phoenix there's no way he'll justify the price tag. Players like Erick Dampier are being thought of as really high commodities, but people are forgetting that one or two productive seasons doesnt exactly mean that player will carry on and be useful (Todd McCulloch, Marc Jackson, Lee Nailon etc).

Nash deserve the 10 Million I think, the problem is the contract is 4 year long, that means it end when he's 34. That may make him another old overpaid player constantly on the bench

Yea but right now he has a 6 year 13 million a year one, that's what I'm saying the max you should think of giving him is 10 miilliona year for 4 years.

Hedo has been awful in Toronto. I think a lot of us saw that coming though.

He's been average, not awful. When Calderon was out he played really well, had the ball in his hands much more. Coincidence? I think not.

Anyway, this was about previous contract. Just read back, you thought Nash wasn't worth his money.

Way too early to determine if Hedo lives up to his current contract or will. Basicly they got him to secure Bosh staying if you ask me, if he does then it's already worth it probably. But moreover, in his own right, playoff performance will determine if he does live to it imo.

Again, if you read back you'll see a lot of ppl thought he wasn't worth 39M in 6 yrs either for the Magic.
A lot of ppl saw that coming. And they probably would have maintained that opinion after his first 40 games for the Magic. But they were still dead wrong in the end.

Hedo has done more stuff, but he hasn't really been good persay. The Raptors have won because of a Jarrett Jack's defense (or not having a major defensive liability at the 1) and an easy stretch of schedule. Turkoglu was a bad signing.
