CLIPPERS(4) vs GRIZZLIES(5): 2013 First Round

Postby NovU on Thu Apr 18, 2013 5:50 pm

LA Clippers: 56 wins / 26 losses
Memphis Grizzlies: 56 wins / 26 losses

Identical season record. These two teams are meeting quite often in the playoffs these years.

Grizz went 23-8 after the all-star break. They starting to roll.

I say Memphis in 7. Despite their slow start, they finished strong and they are the more (playoff-)experienced squad.

Clippers in seven. If Nuggets/Warriors is the best series out of all the first round match-ups, I think this one will be second and also go the distance. Once again, I think homecourt advantage will decide Game 7, so Clippers it is.

How is a 12-1 record in November a slow start? :P

The Clippers in 6, they're just the better team IMO. The Grizzlies had lost Gay but that that didn't seem to be a problem for them, they still ended the season strong. This will be an interesting match-up indeed.

What I've meant is that they lost just 8 games (compared to 26 overall) after the All-Star Break. But you're right, they played strong in Nov.

This should be the best series of the first round. Clippers in 7 again like last year, but they will get worn down and blown out in the second round.

I wouldn't say hands down, I think Nuggets/Warriors is going to be a fun one as well. Outside of Bulls/Nets, where my bias obviously comes into play, those are the two series I'm looking forward to the most.

If the Celtics were healthier, maybe. I have a feeling that one will be over too soon to be a truly great series.

Major flopper Griffin vs a big bruising Randolph. Somehow feels like the cheap fuck Griffin will have the advantage in this matchup

I picked a great game to go see. The fans behind the basket had "Cliff Paul" props to distract Memphis at the freethrow line. Mike Conley was just waltzing past Chris Paul for most of the game for easy baskets. Jamal Crawford was getting the crowd going on every dribble move he performed and followed it with knock down jumpers. Zach Randolph was kept from being a key for Memphis with foul trouble. Blake and DJ connected like Pau and Dwight on an alleyoop. A nice offensive sequence got Eric Bledsoe a baseline slam. Blake Griffin got another poster(lol at the deny defense on the high post, wtf), and Chris Paul wins it at the buzzer. Side note- DeAndre Jordan opened the game with 2 missed freethrows and didn't take another freethrow the entire game.

Memphis did pretty good to come back and keep it close, but it is more of the Clippers poor ball control when Chris Paul isn't on the floor. The Clippers are too deep for Memphis. Unless Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph and their bench wake up in Memphis, this series might end early.

Must been a great game to witness. Reminds me of legendary VAN vs LAC game that I attended back in the days, which also ended with 2 point differential. Wow.
