It's a Whole New League! (NBA2k13 Association)

First I would like to introduce myself to the forum. I'm known as Ace to my friends and I'm hoping to add some to my number by joining this awesome forum. I'm from Puerto Rico. I've been around for a while but only just reading the awesome stories some of you post in here and it wasn't until now that I decided to register. (I hope I'm not hated for it.) Anyways a lot of you have inspired me to do my own association story as I love the game and I love storytelling even more, but I was never sure which way to go with it and I didn't want to start something only to get bored of it or for whatever other reason just leave it and never get back to it. I think I have some good ideas for what I'm going with now and of course feedback in any manner or for any part of my future association will me most appreciated. That been said I'm thinking of starting a 30-team association after considering the fact that i really want to keep it as realistically as possible and the CPU sometimes has a weird logic. I will likely also just play as the Orlando Magic trying to rebuild them and so. If anyone is interested in acting as GM to any other team, making the choices for that team, and helping me by having to worry about one less team, feel free to let me know. I'm sure it will be fun to keep things interactive. I don't have much knowledge about posting the pictures and such the right way so there might not be a lot of that but I hope I can keep everyone interested with whatever stories I can come up with until I figure out how to work all that. Bear with me as I'm new to create this sort of thing but hopefully with your help I can get better fast.

Moving on to the explanations on my project, I will use the latest roster. In my first draft class I will use a real draft class for '13 and the rest will be fictional. In the first one i will include the 2 guys from a backstory I will post soon because i want to incorporate something with some of their careers and rivalry along with the association. Im hoping this will also interest some of you as well. Please feel free to post yourselves or others you might like to be a part of my association with the usual information and I will attempt to make you as acurate as possible to me and I will regularly update you with your progress. Also if you would like to go in another direction with your player (trade, etc.), let me know and I will take the role of your team's GM and try to accomodate you to the best of my abilities. I will likely just sim the first season after I tweek it enough to make it as realistic as possible. From there on it's game time! and hopefully we will get several seasons out of it. I will hopefully begin shortly so if anyone is interested in following this, I would really like to know. More information such as number of games, quarter lenght, difficulty, etc. along with the end of the backstory coming shortly. (I already have it written down in paper but I haven't had a lot of time to get it in the computer). Anyways, thanks in advance and I really hope you all enjoy it. Sorry for the long post!

Sorry about taking so long. Anyways here's the remade backstory. The main idea is a rivalry between two players raising from college and finally making it to the NBA.

The Backstory:
They were more than rivals, they were enemies. They hated each other. Nobody really knew why, but it was even more reason for the fans to want to watch it. It was their guilty pleasure. Even in the finals, Puerto Rico’s college basketball wasn’t really that popular, but there was something special about watching these two competitors tear each other apart on the court. It was a very physical matchup, probably one of the fiercest battles in any sports history (maybe not Artest-Harden of Bynum-Barea vicious, but you get the idea). Both teams had split the series and were now on a very tough game seven.

Their rivalry began a few years back at high school level, but they carried it with them to college.. On one side we have Herberght Colón-Soliván a.k.a. Ace, the 26y.o. 6’2” 195lbs captain of the NUC Caguas Dragons. On the other Dennis Manny, a 23y.o. 6’4” 180lbs SG, and captain of the UNE S.I. Stallions. Both evenly matched, both hungry for the title, and up to the final seconds of the game, both giving their all and playing at an unbelievable level. And then it happened…

With 0.6 seconds left in the clock to finish the game and ahead by only one point, Ace knew that his timely defensive play had made sure the dragons finally won their first championship in team history. He also knew that this was his last chance, being his last year of college. The ref however had other plans.

Ace- Blocking foul? Are you f***ing kidding me?

He had never been known as a great defender, but he usually stepped it up in clutch situations. Plus he was really hungry for that title that had been eluding him, and from which he was just seconds away now. He clearly took the charge, but the ref didn’t see it that way.

Ref- You moved. And watch your mouth! – He was warned.

Ace- But…

He continued to argue with the ref, knowing that they were over the foul limit, and Manny, who had just fouled him, was as he was, an excellent free throw shooter, and that bad call would cost them the game, the series, the title.

Ace- I moved? He f***ing tackled me! That’s why I moved, not before!

Ref- Shut up and get back in the game, don’t make me tech you up!

Ace- What game? You already made us lose with your bad calling. And now you want to make it worse with a tech?

Just as he said that, Manny finished his trip to the line having made both shots and he immediately went to where Ace and the ref were.

Manny- Stop being a bitch Herb!

Ace- Yo, go f*** yourself Manny! - He said while getting on his face.

The ref gave Ace a tech and his teammates broke them up.

Ace- Are you serious? He started the crap ref! He’s been playing dirty all game and you know it, but you haven’t done s***! And now you call me on that? How much money you got in this game?
The ref immediately tech’d him up again and ejected him from the game.

Then ,in an act of loyalty and respect over sportsmanship, even though the game was technically not over, his team decided to follow him and left the court as well, while the new champions Stallions celebrated, and Manny was crowned MVP.

Later on the night, Ace was at home watching the news and he saw an interview with Manny, where he announced he was declaring for the ’13 NBA Draft, with the interviewer adding that several teams were interested.

Ace- Oh great, I bet he gets taken with a high pick too! Like he’s any better than me, so f***ing unfair! Win the title get the MVP and nobody will care about the guy who busted you’re a** on the court. Even if he only lost by a bad call, a loser is always a loser apparently.

Ace’s Friend- Didn’t you declare?

Ace- What for? I’m 26, I didn’t win, and I got ejected from the game. What team would be desperate enough to want to pick me?

Ace’s Friend- Just do it, you could be surprised! Besides, what’s the worst that could happen?


I'm about to start the association and since I'll be simming the first season, I'll hopefully have results and such for you soon. If you want to be a part of the second season please let me know how you want your player to be, etc. Hope to get some replies. Cheers!

Well it doesn't seem to be any interest on this. Maybe it's just too much stuff. I'll just start it over and make it simple, just a quick recap of the game that started this rivalry and then move on to them getting drafted and the association. Hopefully that will get someone interested. I'll edit it later to reflect my change and get rid of all the unnecesary story. Oh and on a side note; I managed to get connected on my xbox so I finally have fully updated rosters and downloaded a decent draft class for '13. I'll just change 2 prospects and that's it. Hopefully that will also help me on the reality level. Anyways, I hope I can interest some of you with this. Reset and new beginning coming soon!

Looks interesting, but a lot to read. Time is of a premium for me right now so would probably struggle to get through it until after a couple of weeks.

Could I suggest breaking the paragraphs down a little, encountering a "wall of text" is always a little daunting to the reader.

I like your idea of a quick recap though! Good luck, I will try to catch up on it all as soon as I can

Well thanks for commenting and the suggestion. I will definitely take it. I can understand how sometimes we don't have a lot of time and what you said about the wall of text. It's all good feedback and I will use it to better myself. I'm hoping of beggining this tomorrow because today is a tough day for me. Hopefully you will enjoy it when it's posted.
