Greatest Players Of Your Favorite Team(s) 2013 Edition

Postby NovU on Tue Apr 09, 2013 8:44 am

Let's allow bias into the discussion because if then players like Kobe would have no business being included in this thread.

MIAMI HEAT
(1) Dwyane Wade
(2) Alonzo Mourning
(3) LeBrick Jameson of a bitch

LeQueen prolly will replace Dwyane in the future but that's if he stays long enough as a Heat. Shaquille was snubbed because his years as a Heat were injury plagued and only played 4 incomplete seasons.

VANCOUVER GRIZZLIES
(1) Shareef Abdur-Rahim
(2) Bryant Reeves
(3) Pete Chilcutt

Snubs: Cherokee Parks, Michael Dickerson, Antonio Daniels, Greg Anthony, Otis Thorpe, Tony Massenburg, Bobby Hurley, Blue Theodore Edward, Othella Harrington, Lee Mayberry: BOY I'M talking a lot of quality here.

Even if we're only taking into account the years certain players played for a team, I'd personally place LeBron at number one in Heat history at this point. He's the best player they've ever had on their roster and after the past couple of seasons, I'd say he's been just as historically significant to the Heat as Wade.

CHICAGO BULLS

1. Michael Jordan
2. Scottie Pippen
3. Derrick Rose

Notable mentions: Dennis Rodman, Jerry Sloan, Artis Gilmore, Norm Van Lier, Bob Love, Horace Grant, Joakim Noah, Bill Cartwright, Luol Deng. That'd probably round out my all-time Bulls team.

Perhaps, but LeBrick played 2 seasons with us. Compare that to Shaq's 4 years. I still gave more credits to LeBrick's 2 years because those years come in as his prime. I think he belongs to Cavalier's number 1 than Heat's number 1, for now.

And Bill Wennington for the Bulls. End of discussion.

Houston Rockets

1. Hakeem Olajuwon
2. Moses Malone
3. Yao Ming

The #1 spot is definitely not debatable, but 2 and 3 are definitely up for grabs by some of the snubs below.

Wait, are these supposed to be our personal picks or something semi-objective?

In any case, since it's the same for both:

Detroit Pistons
1. Andre Drummond
2. Andre Drummond
3. Chauncey Billups

Snubs: Andre Drummond, Adrian Dantley, Ben Wallace, Bill Laimbeer, Bob Lainer

Accounting for time spent with the team and quality it's probably: Lanier, Billups and Laimbeer. Not accounting for time spent, it's Billups, Lanier and Andre Drummond.

Had to check this one:
Code: Select all
Elton Brand   6.67
Bob McAdoo*   5.96
Chris Paul   5.76
Corey Maggette   4.91
Blake Griffin   4.89
Randy Smith   4.37
Danny Manning   4.02
World B. Free   3.99
Swen Nater   3.96
Charles Smith   3.94
Bob Kauffman   3.83
Loy Vaught   3.83
Terry Cummings   3.65
Jim McMillian   3.62
Eric Piatkowski   3.48
DeAndre Jordan   3.27
Darrick Martin   1.79

Two of their current players have played for the team two and three years respectively and are already in the top five. Jordan's not far outside the top fifteen.

EDIT: Just realized that two of the Heat's top six are current players who have only played for the team three years...

Lakers

1. Magic/Kobe (tie) - Kobe beats Magic if/when he wins a 6th ring. For now, they are tied. If I was forced to pick one, I would have to say Kobe only because he is going to finish as the leader in most franchise records once all is said and done. (and maybe I talked myself into Kobe as a personal preference)
2. Kareem - 3 MVPs, 5 Rings
3. Shaq - Could have been higher if history took a different course
4. Jerry West

If you were serious instead of snarky or bratty we might figure out a way to pick the WORST PLAYERS. Instead you go and list Kenny Anderson, when Travis Knight is sitting right there causing Pitino to continue to have flashbacks:

And an off topic note looking at the tables I posted above. 8+ is basically everyone whose numbers I'd actually consider retiring.

Travis Knight is more of a Laker great but he's not friends with Kobe Bryant so he's not included.

Where is Sean Marks? Surely equal first with Joel Anthony. Marks' career year with Heat was a golden moment in the league's history.

I don't mean to be a dickhead but... Three things to address here.

First: Is benji on crack again? He listed Drummond 4 times, 4 fucking times in a single post. Where's justice in that? Wade is listed one time. Let's keep that in mind.

Second: LOL at Bobcat's greats. Vancouver Grizzlies put them in shame with just 5 years of lifespan.

Last: Dirk Nowhiski fans are lucky Harden didn't get traded to the Mavericks.
