Back to the Coaching thing would it be impossible for you guys to implement a coaching Growth depending on how there team performs threw out the year/ years they have been Coaches also having a Coach morale to the team, meaning if the team is doing Horrible with a Coach the team morale goes down until you fire him and get a new Coach or if the team does well with the Coach it will boost morale for that team.

-other personalities changing other players personalities. such as Kendrick Perkins influence on KD.
-New players changing how they play when playing with veterans
-fouls effecting players skill (not allowing them to get in rhythm)
-bigger games make players play harder than other games
-coaches being ejected (doesn't seem possible, but would be cool)
-some teams are better after the time out (Doc Rivers)
-late game coaching
-retired players coming back

Maybe if a team is rebuilding they'll try to get give the younger players more minutes rather than just giving the best players the most mins.

Since this is made mostly for assocciation users, how about upgrading the scouting reports, at least having best/worst case NBA comparison if it's possible.

I think out some personal:
+ Starburry. I think the name has already say what it mean  (Selfish, ball hog, ruin team chemistry, do bad things to teamate,...)
+ Backstab. He can play with the whole team, he boost other morale, but your team chemistry will sink (and maybe badly)
Some more events:
- Team lose morale, stat when superstar/long-stay player got traded away or enter FA (just for long-stay with this). Just imagine Kobe, Duncan, ... got traded away or enter FA, now think what would happen to the team then
- Battle for position: a sub/reserve can demand you for a battle for starter position challenge. You could:
+ Hell NO, know your place: the player lose morale (certainly) and maybe some stat, or even demand a trade
+ Not now: he just lose a bit morale and will ask again later, limit this can only use like twice or so :|
+ Yes, it's USA, take your chance: the good thing is here. The player get some morale boost and automatic locked in his main position starting spot, the former get to sub with both their former time sum up and divided equally. The player get 3 game for the test. Compare the 2 numbers in each game, if the challenger is better, he get +2 in stat and some morale, the former get -1 stat and lose morale. If not, nothing happen. After 3 game, if the player get 2/3 win against the former, he keep the stat bonus, huge morale boost and his role is now starter (Maybe some potential add up if you want); the former lose his role, he lose double his stat, huge morale sink and then maybe he will demand a trade. If the player lose, the former get morale boost, his stat revived, the player lose his stat, potential, morale and maybe would change his personal, too.
- Season target: you can set this at the start of new season (NBA Champion, Confedere champion, playeoff, not the worst in power ranking,...)

Here's a long read, but I'm pretty sure all of this can be accomplished through the manipulation of attributes, stats, and random generation.

If a way is discovered to define hard work.
- Should decrease the players likelihood of injury.
- Could bring about prime years for a player sooner.
- Could extend the prime years for a player
-- Example
--- Kobe Bryant: Has performed at Prime Level since 2000-2001 season (if you look at his stats)

- Find a way to use historic players as the bench mark at that position.
- Example
- Kobe chasing Jordan

- Some players just absolutely destroy other teams through some sort of vendetta or superhuman will
* However these are not necessarily rivalry games
- Example
- Kobe always torches the Raptors, and up until their last championship torched the Suns. Used to always put on a show
in the Garden
- Based on random chance with some sort of probability calculated, give 5% boost across all offensive ratings
and make how quickly they get hot and how long they stay hot for that game near or at max rating.

Make use of a big time player approaching a milestone as a means to move to a contender, postpone retirement.
- Example
-- Player is approaching top 5 in scoring (or some other statistical milestone) at end of their 14th season.
- Could use some sort of calculation to determine how long it would take them to reach the milestone
if they average a 10-15% decrease to their in-prime performance averages (in that category) over next x seasons
will they reach the record.
A percentage could be calculated represting the likelihood they can reach the milestone.
- If this assumed average of 10-15% decrease puts them at or above the record. Likelihood is 100%.
Other attributes could then be mixed with this percentage to create a sort of "True Record Breaking Will" rating
to determine if the player actually pursues records and postpones retirement or not such as:
- Injury Rating
- Work Ethic
- Play Style
- High Flyers loose athleticism at end of career, which could result in more than a 10-15% decrease in production
- Players who hone in on a mid-range game often times are able to extend their careers.
This could then be re-evaluated each subsequent year.

- Make use of potential Hall of Famers holding on for a few more seasons, only to play for a contender. Signing just one year deals.
This can't apply to every player reaching end of career though, which is why it would be beneficial to utilize whether they will be entered into
the Hall of Fame as the marker. 2k will automatically say who is planning retirement and enter the Hall of Fame. This tool could then analyze those players before the offseason
tasks, and if they meet the criteria remove them from the Hall of Fame/Retirement edit their play4contender etc and put them in free agency (if their contract is up).
Otherwise they would come back and demand a trade, which is somewhat analogous to Steve Nash to the Lakers.... kind of.

- If a young player wins championships while being in the top 20 in overall rating could bring about their prime 1 year sooner.
Giving them an extra year of prime and increasing their potential.

- Winning multiple championships before age X extends prime on year for each championship within the 21-24 age range.

- 12-13 as maximum number of prime years.

- Players retiring mid-season

- Retired players (of Hall of Fame skill level) can be persuaded to unretire to make one last run at a championship.
- Take 10-15% off of all skill attributes from when they retired.
- Example:
- Karl Malone a year or two after retiring from the Lakers.
- Let's say Kobe ends career with six rings after next season and retires. Two seasons after that may consider coming back to beat Jordan.

- Redefining the effects of injuries for great players.
- Kobe plays through almost everything, and usually has a dominant game while being injured
- Take away significant amount of athleticism, vertical, speed.
- Increase things like free throw, mid-range, 3pt etc. Represents a shift in focus of the player and their will to postively impact the game.
no matter what.

- Superstars get boost in ratings in an elimination game during the playoffs.
- Superstars get boost in ratings in key areas throughout the entire Finals
- Additional boosts will can be given for them for Game 6 and 7.

I didn't read the whole thread, so sorry if it's already posted. And of course, it's an idea, I don't know how deep can you guys get with this.

Fan Night
First of all, I don't even know what day it's fan night in the real NBA, but let's say it's every tuesday. The first idea was making fan night a retro night. Picking a random retro jersey (home or away depending on the situation). But reading the ideas in the first post, I thought it would be cool to use them. I've never been in an NBA arena (i'm from Spain), but I guess fan night is made for the fans ( ). Based on that, I thought tickets would be cheaper. So, even if the team has a bad record and there's not a lot of people in the stands usually, on fan nights, the attendance should be higher, giving a bigger boost to the home team. Maybe give away free shirts like in the playoffs, and have an all-green with the Celtics, or an all-yellow with the Warriors. You get the picture.

As I was typing, I thought it's not that special if it happens every week. Maybe there's a way to do fan night when there are 10 or more games that day, or make them the first tuesday of every month. I don't know.

I dunno if this was proposed earlier, didn't bother reading this growing thread. :)

An idea for an off court injury (probability of course) would be somehow mysteriously injuring your toe (Carlos Boozer) or anything for that matter. If that's possible, I think it would add a little more humor to the game.

agiles2303, 1/ I think injury is more likely to happen now and the rate actually should be increased
2/ Not everyone is Kobe/Lebron so not everyone is "at prime" so young, some even never reached their "prime"
3/ C'mon, don't just ask for "Kobe boost up", "Kobe postponed retired", "Kobe came back", "Kobe is greater in injured"...
4/ Young, top 20 overall, already win ring, and you want to increase his potential even more? And he IS NOT even in prime yet? I think if he doesn't have a very high potential already, there's no way to take this, and even in real life, only Kobe had this situation (am I wrong? plz correct me, it's good to learn something)
5/ Win multi ring before 21-24? Well, ask Adam Morrison then.
My point is, I think you just ask things around Kobe, It's cool and some of them is quite good, but I just can't help myself but keep pop out "Da faq?" reading those

2 quick ideas:
-Protected Picks: Allow teams to trade picks with different amounts of "protected" status. ie. Lottery protected, top 20 protected, etc.
-6th man player role: Players like JR Smith, Jason Terry, Jamal Crawford and the like who are good enough to start but always come off the bench should be forced into the 6th man slot in the rotation. I know by default 2k basically sets lineups based on overall ratings, so in my association JR Smith is the Knicks' starting shooting guard. He might play the same amount of minutes, but he still shouldn't be starting.

Is there really this need for trolling and attacking me? I was simply giving an example. Just so happens Kobe fits a lot of the scenarios well. Besides Jao constantly calls this a rabbit hole. THEY WANT AS MANY IDEAS AS POSSIBLE. THEY WANT THE PERSONALITIES OF ALL THE PLAYERS. I gave them specific details about not only Kobe but another potential superstar. So in response to each of your points.

1. Work ethic is more than just running as hard as you can for as long as you can into a brick wall. Work ethic like the Kobe's, LeBron's, Durant's, Jordan's, means they put time in at the gym, weight room, dining room, etc to get their body right. Which would prevent injuries.

2. Just because I use a specific example, doesn't mean I provide every specific indicator for how it will be determined. Nor did I ever say that every single young player must end up like Kobe/LeBron/Jordan. Again I was just providing one specific idea, which just so happens to only relate to the prodigy players. Instead of bashing me for being intrigued by different ways they can bring the Kobe or Jordan personality to life, why don't you come up with some ideas about the bench warmers in the league? Or the journeymen?

3. Again this isn't about "Kobe only", if I would have used Karl Malone in reference to not retiring and holding on for one more ring would that have made you happy? Or how about how Isiah Thomas played through that crazy ankle injury, would that have been better? If I would have mentioned the Jordan comeback instead of a potential Kobe comeback would that have calmed your nerves? Whether I used 4 different players to provide an EXAMPLE or just one like I did with Kobe, it doesn't change the underlying theme for each of the ideas, or the fact that THE EXAMPLES I GAVE HAPPENED IN THE PAST, WILL HAPPEN IN THE FUTURE, AND THEREFORE ARE WORTH CONSIDERING WHEN TALKING ABOUT WAYS TO MAKE THE GAME MORE REALISTIC.

4. Yet again I didn't flush out all the details or provide every attribute associated with a player that would determine an increase in potential because it was just a brainstorming session. I could have gone on to say. Just because a player has a high rating, doesn't mean they have a high potential attribute. There are all sorts of calculations that can be done combining position specific stat columns with overall rating plus contribution in the playoffs to determine whether or not they will get a boost in potential. And to your question do I want to give a the next Kobe or LeBron even more potential? YES. If you remember before LeBron won a ring, there were a lot of doubters. Can he be the number one leader? Can he take a game over? Can he be trusted with the last shot? Whenever those questions are asked, there is a underlying sense that his potential is being questioned. Many were starting to believe they crowned him the next big thing to early. But what happened, he won a ring. And now everyone is talking about how the lid is off and the pressure is eliminated and now the sky is the limit for where he can take his career. Sounds like an increase in potential to me.

5. I don't recall saying that if the player is an overall 62 and they win multiple rings that they're prime years or potential should definitely increase. There would have to be some sort of calculation. Did the player play starter minutes plus contribute in the top two of the team statistically over the last two post season runs that ended in a championship, plus considering their work ethic cause if they aren't willing to work hard and make the most of the experience they gained early then it won't do them any good, and lastly taking into account their current potential rating.

My ideas were a quick brainstorming session of ideas, and instead of jumping on my back, saying I'm looking for "Kobe Boost" you could have spent some time brainstorming about how to elaborate on these ideas or calculate them realistically because everything I said has happened in the past. Or maybe you could have come up with some new ideas. No one wants to read our battle back and forth, but I'm not going to sit here and let you belittle my ideas. This thread is about getting as many ideas out there as possible. So my suggestion to everyone is keep the suggestions rolling, much of what I've read so far is great, some in my opinion isn't at all but so what? That's what makes the concept of this tool great. There is no limit to the scenarios, and the more new ideas we come up with, and the more we elaborate on the ones people have already suggested, the better it will be in the end.

There really isn't any need to call someone out like you did, it's not like I was suggesting that a player ate radioactive leopard eyes and started pooping chocolate covered chiclets then shrunk to be 4 feet tall half of their height being 3.5 feet long legs which means they should have a 99 rating across the board and retire every other year for the next 45 seasons, all without aging or playing a single minute in a game.

don't know if this would be possible to code but iam going to suggest it anyway :P since you are working with different personalities with each and every player in the NBA how about giving each and every player there own sliders how they shoot defend there awareness on the court I think it would be a little more realistic each player does not play like the other on the court and I think this would be cool yes I know there is a rating system already in the game but this would be different how they react in game play. Again I said it might not be possible and they might have to get there hands on the main game coding sheet just wanted to put out another idea (Y)

I don't really think we're being hostile to you, besides just pointing out other opinions and examples.

To be fair, I don't feel like #4 is very accurate. If a player has a top 20 overall it means he's certainly the team's star or at worst no. 2 option, and more than carried his weight to get the team a ring. Who are the young players who have that kind of rating? Durant, Westbrook, Paul George, D-Rose, Harden, Kyrie, Blake, etc.? I really don't think those guys need yet more potential. They'll all reach their 95-99 overall soon enough (the main problem with long-term 2k associations is too many star-rated players anyway). Are there 80-85+ overall young (maybe <25) players who don't have the potential ratings in the ball park of those I mentioned? I can't think of any.

#5 has a valid point, but still probably not deserving of a big boost. Sure, guys like Cole Aldrich and Dexter Pittman probably gained from being around teams of that caliber, but it's not like it improved their game that much more than the simple process of learning and adjusting to the NBA as a young player. Going the other way about if they are starters and contributed on that team, it goes back to my point about #4. If a contender plays young guys in a championshup run, odds are those are already among the guys with massive potential anyway. I understand what you're intending, but the group of players who are young and contributers on a championship team, yet not the young superstars seems too small IMHO.

Again, I have to respectfully disagree. Look at Kobe's performance the other day against Indiana. His night certainly wasn't dominant. He missed all of his jumpshots. I honestly don't see why someone should shoot better if they have a hobbled knee, a twisted ankle, sprained finger, etc. Also, increasing shooting ratings due to a 'shift in focus' seems more like someone changing their entire game gradually with age (Kobe, Jason Kidd, Vince, etc).

About boosts in playoffs, that's probably a workable idea, but could be too broad. Limitations for it could be with certain clutch ratings or with the closer signature skill.

I do think most of the other ideas are excellent though, and as you said, it's good to get as many ideas as possible.

Ya'll know children born with some deseases so some NBA players would be donors for their kids maybe at the age of (27-39) and it would be very very rare.So player would be out for a rest of the season and if he would be back he probably retires.
