http://kotaku.com/5985356/source-the-ps ... your-phoneTwo SKUs at $429 & $529
Release date in November 2013
Can control/buy stuff/chat with tablets/phones
Comes with PlayStation Eye
Can watch friends play games, even if you don't own the same game
There are more rumors of the possible streaming of PS3 games (like Onlive), but I imagine if they did that they would do it with PS2 and PS1 games too, I mean, why not?
Anyway, all will probably be revealed/confirmed tomorrow. I am personally excited about it, based on rumors at least.

Reasonably impressed with the specs....hopefully we get more PC ports
The social aspects actually sounded neat, except for the prediction-based download games for me that I didn't choose to download. I'm sure that will have an option to turn off, but still. Taking over in a friend's game, watching a friend, watching 'celebs', uploading videos, streaming, all that jazz is cool in my book. The 'save state' feature is probably the biggest thing I really liked about the console (just like emulators, no need to load disc/save game then play, just turn on and go).
Games looked meh at best except for Watch Dogs. It was nice seeing Killzone in color though.
I will probably be swayed by NBA (Live) (2K)14 to get one of the upcoming consoles, but my hype went down after seeing it rather than up.

+1 for Watch Dogs, Jon. Maybe that's why we haven't heard from it since it was first announced.

The fact it's not going to be backwards compatible (or so I've read) is a bit of a letdown.
Thu Feb 21, 2013 8:41 pm
Not going to be backwards-compatible, at least not initially, whatever that means, but will allow you to play PS3 (and maybe even PS/PS2) games via streaming (which will require an internet connection that's both good bandwidth, to download the (720p?/1080p?) video, and low latency, unless you play games where a 100ms+ delay in control doesn't matter that much).

Like hectic first person shooters? Pffft. I've seen 'good' players whine about having not being able to do well with 200ms delay on the other hand I've seen some fag dope pwn azns with 250ms.

Thu Feb 21, 2013 9:35 pm
Well, congrats shadow, but I don't think I would enjoy many of my games if whatever I did took 6/10-7/10 of a second to actually be applied in-game.
Thu Feb 21, 2013 10:27 pm
its a bit different than that my fair grin, its not 100ms game lag, its 100ms input lag which can get unbearable.
Although, Onlive over slower 8mbps Internet at my parents house did well when I tried it there a while ago. Same amount of input lag as here, but the video quality was shite.
Oh, and I guess no Used Game conspiracy for the PS4, happy gamestop

I've experienced that but unbearable is seeing and moving in the game as if it's a very bad and cheaply made stop motion animation. It will reach a point that game lag 'catches up' with input lag because in both cases whatever you did in a particular moment is delayed and no longer applies to the original situation that you're reacting to.
Though it's still not as unbearable as hearing Russians mic spamming. You can add the French, Germans, Spanish, and every teenager to that.
Fri Feb 22, 2013 1:55 am
i severely doubt you've experienced it if you are indeed playing on your own computer. If you are playing through team viewer or something like that, then maybe its different. Either way, disagreement my dear shadow, disagreement.
but good news!

Watch Dogs wasn't even running on a PS4, that was PC version. And it's coming out on last gen consoles too.

I guess I am going back to Sony once again for the next gen. I was thinking to give Xbox a try but really didn't like what I heard about them so far and can't support the way they're heading.
After SNES era, I became a Sony fanboi because it never disappointed me with PS1 and 2 while competitors looked crap. Then PS3 wasn't as good but I was still content with 3d bluray functionality and couple exclusives. But I could actually see some peoples' point that Xbox is better for gaming. So I was seriously considering to give Xbox a go for next gen.
I will probably wait for an year before I pick up next gen and making a final decision because of backlog, but based on what's been released from both parties so far, I think it's not even close. I was surprised though, of couple my buddies predicting Xbone would outsell Sony 4 for at least first 1.5 years because of loyal/deluded 360 fan base.

399 isn't that bad, especially for a brand new console. I'm sold.
