So I just purchased the dlc over PlayStation Network yesterday, and already I can't seem to stop playing it. After looking in the wiki (spoiling myself) with information about the levels and the bosses my experience has been quite good. After being killed by the Sanctuary Guardian, and the
corrupted Knight Artorias several times I eventually emerged victorious.
So now I am walking through the township attempting to complete this downloadable Content without many deaths. I was however slightly unhappy with the price of the DLC, which even though it was a good addition to the game; I feel it could have been around some 5 to 10 dollars instead of the 15. I also purchased some DLC (two to be exact) for Xcom enemy unknown for about $11. So I wasn't exactly thrilled when looking at the list price for the dlc, even if it's less on PSN. I am now level 245, and loving it.

I have finally completed the expansion pack "Artorias of the Abyss," well I've swept all the bosses that is. I still have to find all of the items and other goodies though. I have began to want to play PvP again, but it's been rather hard. I'm a Darkmoon Blade +2, and everytime I look to deliver "justice" to the "guilty," I get jumped by 2 or 3 players. The Dark Souls community, from what I know have come to call this "ganking." Some research on the term brings me to believe this is used in almost any MMO, essentially the term is the act of waiting at the spawn of players with many others at your aid and basically
stomping them..
It's frustrating, having had many victories before hand I was appalled at how the tables began to turn so quickly. I don't mind a player using summon signs to get through the level, if they don't wanna get invaded that's fine...but when someone summons 2 phantoms just to spam that "item" that draws invading phantoms in to gank them is just wrong. I managed to take care of only one gank today, took care of the host by backstabbing him after successfully rolling through some "Wrath of the Gods" spam and many spells such as Logan's "Soul Spear." That was the most satisfying fight ever, even though it was drastically unfair.
I can't help but message players prior to fighting them to not "gank" or "3 v 1" me, this has proven unsuccessful. Every time I have, I end up being ganked anyway. Can't say that I didn't expect a few things to happen, but this is most prominent inside of the Darkroot Forest where the Forest Hunter NPCs are or the Kiln of the first flame. The Garden (forest?) is usually very laggy anyway, so I generally avoid that area. The Kiln has a lot of traffic now n days so I usually go there. The Ooacile Township is a nice spot too, I tried the Stoicilce Arena or whatever it's called but I never get a match going.
Still soul level 245, with a little over a million souls left.
My build is a mix of dexterity and Strength, with a lot of endurance. I favor Katanas or Rapiers when I am comfortable, I tend to use Spears and scrap the leggings for a lighter piece when I go into "Greatshield with spear or rapier" mode so as to maintain my quick maneuverability. I don't like tanking, I can't stand the slowness or speed reduction. Seeing a tanking gank is the most infuriating sight to see, he already has 2 tanks with him...why does he need a full havel's set (or any heavy poise oriented armor) to boot?
My equipment is as follows: Light armor, with a little heavy.
Head: Shadow mask
Torso: Black Clerics Robe
gloves: Black Clerics gloves (or Black manchette I can't remember)
Leggings: Silver Knights leggings (just to have some added poise with the wolf ring effect)
R1: Rapier +14 (Need titanite slab!) or sometimes Velka's rapier, even a winged spear +14
R2: Silver Knight Sword +5 or sometimes a Dark Knight Sword +5, maybe even a iaito +14
L1: Tower Shield +14 or sometimes my Artorias Greatshield
L2: Either a talisman, pyro-flame, or a catalyst, right now it's the catalyst
Type of Magic in use: Magic
Mainly offensive spells, I use some of my dark magic obtained from the dlc now too.
I feel that they should increase the maximum players in one world to eight...I say this because they should have slots reserved for particular phantoms, 3 for friendlies and 4 for invaders. The more friendlies should attract more invaders, or increase the chance of one being invaded. I hate going into a game realizing the host's company has already 3/4 filled his world.
I enjoy summoning phantoms for area clearing purposes, not ambush invaders with 2 other phantoms to gain more souls. If anyone plays Dark Souls, and would like to summon me or dual, add me and we can work something out. I am also open to any trades available, for a reasonable cost if necessary. I've played through the game 2 or 3 times on my level 245, so I have a lot of things I don't need.
