NLSC Podcast Pilot Episode: NBA Elite 11 Talk

A few weeks back, Patrick, bigball12 (who you might remember has a retail copy of NBA Elite 11) and I recorded a test/pilot episode of an NLSC Podcast in which we discussed NBA Elite 11 and bigball12 added further thoughts on the game that has since been confirmed to be cancelled. We also discussed the future of the series, NBA 2K11 and NBA Jam.

This is our first attempt at a podcast, if we do end up making this a regular or semi-regular feature we anticipate getting better over time and perhaps adding some regular segments. Please note that this was recorded <I>before</I> the confirmation that NBA Elite 11 was cancelled, hence why we refer to the possibility of cancellation. We hope you enjoy the show, if there's any interest in it we'll certainly look at doing more.

Thanks for checking it out, hopefully my Australian accent isn't too difficult to understand. I don't actually realise how much of an accent I have until I hear a recording of myself. Also, for anyone who's wondering about my pronunciation of "Dynasty", that's the pronunciation that I was taught in school (din-asty). If it gets too confusing, I'll try and remember the American pronunciation (die-nasty) in any future shows.

I recommend to keep doing them, I'm only about 20 minutes in but I am enjoying it. You accent dosn't bug me at all either...

Seems the interest is there, so I'd say there'll be more of them. NBA Jam is coming out for 360 and PS3 this week, we've just started the PC Petition and NBA Elite 12 Wishlist, so there's definitely stuff we can discuss.

Just a couple of ideas for future podcasts:

What kind of programs do you use to record the podcast? Because an interesting thing you could do is have a segment where people could call in and ask questions and discuss particular topics.

Since you're a self confessed dynasty geek, you could also talk about the section and what kind of impact not having a Live game this year could possibly have on it. Even though Live 10 had it's flaws, it still brought in a few new posters on the board.

We use Skype, so it might be feasible to have people call in. It's certainly easy enough to arrange guests. Promoting the Dynasty section with some sort of feature, along with community videos and the like might definitely make for some good segments to have, will definitely consider some ideas there.

Ideally we'll have a better name for the podcast too, NLSC Podcast isn't all that creative but hey, it was a pilot episode.

Ah yeah, I had a feeling it was skype. As for the name, if you wanted a condensed version, it could be called the NLSCast.

I thought about that but it doesn't exactly roll off the tongue. Looks better written than it sounds.

While Leftos and I take a short break from the weekly Podcast over the holidays, we're bringing this one back as a special/"lost" episode, getting it out of the vault and into the current archives. It took us a while to get the podcast off the ground after the test pilot but we're enjoying bringing you new episodes every week. Hopefully this will be a fun look back and for those of you who have been enjoying the podcasts, a suitable filler episode until we pick things up again with Episode #12 early in the new year.
