a problem in logic

Tue Jun 29, 2004 9:25 pm

can anyone help me with this? im taking the subject philosophy 101: logic and critical thinking and since i have been late for 2 straight classes and iin this class if your late your considered absent, i have no grade for those 2 sessions i have missed... now the professor gave us this problem and if anyone answers it correctly will recieve a grade of 1.5(or an A) for rectitation... now that would really get me back on track with this subject... heres the problem:

prove that God exists.
the answer must be logical and he doesnt accept an answer that has anything to do with faith... me and everyone else in our class did our best last week but he still has something to say that makes our answers wrong and he gets everyone frustrated... by the way, this professor doesnt believe in God... he's a (pathetic) pagan..

im so desperate now that ive even decided to post this here and hope anyone has already taken this subject...

Your teacher is a idiot, just like the kid who told his mom that his teacher was giving him head.

Religion to me has nothing to do with proven facts, its just something you believe in and have faith in. You dont see God, feel God, hear God or even smel God, its just something you believe in, you dont have to prove someone that he does exist, believing in God is more then enough prove Imo.

Also, another problem in logic is to tell your mom that your hot teacher is giving you head.

i already told my teacher the same thing... he said, how could i believe something i dont see, hear, etc... and he said that aristotle was like me and thats why many make fun of him now... very pathetic indeed..

he's not really forcing me or anyone to answer his question but i really need to get the grade he's giving to whoever answers the question... but still he expects too much from us(level 2 nursing students)... if this subject wasnt 3 units i wouldve dropped this subject...

If I could remember some of the arguments from some of the classes I've taken, I'd post them... but I can't.

If you search "Philosophy of god" in yahoo or google you'll get plenty.

Basically you can argue that god started out as a physical being and then became symbolic, blah blah, or something along those lines.

It depends on how your teacher is refuting the existence of god... so write down some of his smart ass answers, look up the info, and you'll most likely find a counter argument for every argument. Good luck.

I always found this kind of stuff annoying, and the lecturers/teachers for these subjects are pure nerds. But you gotta pass farken! :)

just show him David Blaine videos.....his magic will make your Teacher piss in his pants  ..... it'll also prove how the impossible can be made possible....
i dunno im Buddhist so i really have no GOD ....but well therez plenty of proof of what Buddha,Jesus,Vishnu etc did....just tell that dickehead teacher of yours to go see the sites....maybe hes just so frustrated and couldnt get a woman in his life and ended up as a dickhead teacher..so he doesnt believe in something greater....

well what ill do is.....tell him to go get head from that teacher who gave head to the 14 yr old kid.....maybe if he gets some he'll be cured of his frustration....and he'll give u an A++ for the advice :D

Ehehehe, what a coincidence I see this thread today.

I got my report card from my previous school, which happened to be a Roman Catholic school. Grades are given from 1 to 10.

Mostly everything was a 6 orso, and the subject "Godsdienst"...hmm, bible studies or whatever, my grade was a 1.

My mom saw that (not that it matters anymore since my present school doesn't waste time on that stuff..) was like...wtf? How did you manage that?

I just grinned and admitted I never attended one of the classes.

Lol, I attended most of the classes. But we always watched some movies which seemed to have some religous message or something......YEAH RIGHT

We just had a goodtime watching some movies :P

We actually had books for it. We had to look up stories in the bible and stuff. Are they crazy?

It's 30 Degree's Celcius, it's the last period, you're tired + dying of hunger and they want you to read some stuff that happened probably before anyone in my near family tree was born? How about, ehm...no?

class will be in 1 and a half hour from now.. no time to post there.. but thanks anyway!(Y)

ill be using the genesis of concept as my basis for my argument... he wants an answer in true logic, ill give him one... in my argument ill use the bible, the priest, and the church as my object... then for my bridges(5 senses) ill say that you can read about God from the bible, hear about him from the priest and see a replica of him in the church, and for the abstraction the essential part(idea) is simply the idea of God, the things he did for us, etc... and for the accidental(phantasm) it'll be his looks, height, voice, etc...

hopefully this will do...
Good luck to me... :?

LMAO

but the question in itself is impossible to prove without mentioning annything about faith, faith is the reason that "God" does exist
put that and see what he says

Wed Jun 30, 2004 9:56 am

I had this question. There is no answer. The kid that got the extra credit in our class told the teacher to prove God existed, and then proved the teacher wrong, and got the credit.

It could be different, but I don't think so.

Wed Jun 30, 2004 10:24 am

About the seeing God part, I said...you don't see the wind do you? You feel it, alright, but you don't see it.

That kept her quiet for awhile, then I answered..."Doesn't make a difference to me though, I'm not really a believer anyways." She got all agitated and was like "Why are you commenting then, you're free to leave."

Since I knew I was leaving for Holland (and she didnt) I packed my bag and left. What a dramatic departure.

You can't really prove that something exists that your teacher doesn't believe in, because you can present him all of the facts and proof in the world and if he chooses not to believe, then it makes absolutely no difference.

I'd say just use the Bible, but everyone has their opinions on that. I think it is the best and most obvious evidence you have, but some people don't believe it so I guess that it doesn't really matter.

You could always be like the people in the Bible and say that "My god will make fire on this paper," and pray that it happens. :? :?:

I have no idea though...

Wed Jun 30, 2004 4:16 pm

well, i gave my answer and he mocked me calling me "brother" which basically means im some kind of preacher... no one got it right but he gave us what would be the logical answer to the question...

basically he said that God is an "Absolute Concept" which means one that presents its object to the mind as an independent reality either as a substance or as though it were a substance, wherein a substance is a being that can exist by itself and it needs no other subject in order to exist...

im kinda pissed because the answer was that simple... i shouldve just said that God is in a way similar to democracy, you cant see it, smell it, etc... but you have an idea of it... damn... maybe i was trying too hard to get the answer that i wasnt able to think of a simple answer like that...

I know how it feels...

your Teacher is RETARDED

u can get him fired...hire a stripper and send her to his house...then u go and tape it and show the principal...then your dickhead teacher gets fired ...only prob is he sounds retarded so he may start stalking u
if he does....well thats your problem

Then what happens when the principal starts thinking you stalked the teacher, and are nasty enough to tape him with a stripper!
