Talk about NBA Live 95-2002 here.

Hey everyone, I've been having serious issues playing NBA Live 98 on my Windows 7 32-Bit OS. It doesn't seem to work. The first time I boot up my machine and try to play it, works perfectly. Any other time on the same boot, nothing. I tried all the compatibility modes, and I even tried the FIFA 98 fix. Nothing. It also gives me an error not happening in other compatibility modes. This error only happens in a Windows 7 compatibility, and it gives me an error stating: "SHOWDCT: No DCT chunks found! FILE showdct.c LINE 465" If anyone can help, I'd really appreciate it.

Also, in the Windows 7 compatibility, before it gives the error, the EA Sports logo and the sound come up, but after the copyright screen and stuff, the game stops, and the error appears.

Anyone? I really want to play this game.

You're going to have to be a lot more patient than that. You're talking about a really old game here in a section that doesn't get a whole lot of posts and an area in which not everyone is going to be particularly knowledgeable. Please see our
Rules for more info on our double posting and thread bumping policies.
I don't think Compatibility Mode is going to work here, but I can confirm that VMWare does, for both NBA Live 98 and NBA Live 99 (for me, at any rate). More info can be found in this stickied thread:

Hm, I used a Windows 98 virtual machine in Microsoft's Virtual PC software, NBA Live 98 worked perfectly on there. Thanks for your help and sorry for double posting.

No worries.

Glad to hear you got it working. If you need the official patch for the game, it's still available in our Downloads section.

One more question, the controls for the keyboard on the game are horrible, is it possible I can use my PS3 controller to play it on the Windows 98 Virtual Machine? Are there any PS3 controller drivers that are even slightly compatible with Windows 98?

I'm guessing there aren't any specific drivers but it might be able to work under WMWare anyway. I know that DOSBox recognises my Logitech dual analog USB controller, though I can't always calibrate it properly, so VMWare could well have it covered.
