Question for Aussie PC Local disk owners

I saw an earlier thread about this was locked but I just want to know if anyone in oz has managed to get a local retail copy of the game to work?

I'm hoping this secuROM invalid disk error is impacting all aussie pc players (who didn't import) and it will magically start working tomorrow.

This has to be the first broken street date that has backfired on me.

I'm experiencing the same thing. I downloaded all these workarounds that haven't solved the problem and have since made my computer behave like shit. It better magically work tomorrow!!!

I've sent the reference file off to secuROM but not holding out hope. Given all the launch glitches a bad batch of disks wouldn't be a shock. uninstalled the game and will do a fresh install in the morning to see what happens. At least my ps3 copy arrives tomorrow (for online play with friends).

Will post an update once i reinstall.

I have since been in contact with 2ksupport, given them as much info as possible and they are looking into it for me.

Ahh so its not just me. I have spent a good few hours trying everything with no success.
I even went as far to do a complete system reformat, and still no go (it did need doing anyway)
Has anyone in Australia got this working off the disc?
Pretty piss poor if you ask me if this is a big issue, hopefully they sort it out shortly. If anyone hears anything definitely post it up!

I think you guys should do what i did and post a complaint via 2ksupport. The more requests they get maybe the faster they get onto it.

I actually called them. The number is on the back of the booklet. They need to fix this before the weekend!!

I called EB, they said I was the third person to call this morning. So I went in, and traded it for an XBOX copy. They were happy to do it. I still prefer the PC version though.
I would recommend calling the place you bought it as well, advise them of the issue, and they will put pressure on publisher/distributor.

I can confirm this problem. I bought 2 copies of the game on PC (myself and brother) at JB-HiFi and both come up with the Securom insert correct disk error. After reading this thread, I'm about to head down to JB Hi-fi and see if I can get it sorted out.

I got a response from secuROM. Their suggested fixes didn't work for my but give it a try and see if you have any luck. They essentially seem to think it might be to do with a conflict with dvd burning software.

Hello,

We have some questions and things that we would like you to try.

1. Please ensure that the application's disc was inserted into your CD/DVD/BD drive during the creation of the analysis file.

2. Are you running Kaspersky Internet Security?

If you run Kaspersky Internet Security the protection engine may deny access of the application's executable to the disc drive.

We've contacted Kaspersky support and their advice is to add the application in question to the list of trusted applications in Kaspersky Internet Security.

3. Are you able to see the contents of the disc with your Windows Explorer/My Computer?

If you can see the contents of the disc, a possible cause might be a CD/DVD burning software (e.g. Sonic DLA, Stomp RecordNow Max,...) which uses the DLA (drive letter access) technology. Please disable this software, to rule out this possibility.
You can disable DLA following these steps:
1. Click on the 'Start' button in your toolbar 2. Click 'Run'
3. Type 'cmd' and press enter. Now a DOS window will appear. (Alternatively:
press the 'windows key' + 'R' on your key board) 4. Type 'dla disable e:' (where 'e:' is the drive's assigned letter) 5. Restart your Computer 6. Attempt to launch the application again

If you cannot see the contents of the disc, please create a new Windows User Account without Administrator Rights.
Sometimes this works as it is a different communication interface in this non-administrative mode.
To do this, please perform the following steps:
1. Start button in lower left hand corner 2. Go up to Settings 3. Open the Control Panel 4. Inside Control Panel folder, go down to User Accounts 5. Chose 'Add...'
6. Enter a name for the new user
7. Chose 'User with limited rights'
8. Restart the computer and login to the new user account 9. Attempt to launch the application again using this new account

If the software still does not to run properly after following these steps, please send us an analysis file and a description of the steps you performed.

The JB Hi Fi I bought it from thinks that this issue was caused because the game broke it's release date. They seem to think that if we try and install it today it should work.

Has anyone tried this?

out of curiousity, has anyone tried Court Logos Normalizer (for non-US residents) ?

It emulates the US settings for the game

Back from JB, they had a few returns this morning. The guy who i spoke to understood that it wasnt possible to activate the CD-key without going into the game so swapping the game over wasn't an issue, just picked up a copy of 2K13 on PS3 instead. Might have to find another way to get my hands on a PC copy though...

Still no luck with this. Reinstalled this morning, and tried to install a copy on my laptop. Neither worked.

I've lodged a support ticket on the main 2k site. I have zero faith in the 2k forums since even the 2k twitter feeds list links to operation sports to report bugs.

I'm assuming this is some major fault that won't be fixed anytime soon. My PS3 copy can't arrive soon enough.

I ordered my copy online so I probably won't have it until next week. Fingers crossed everything will work properly, though this certainly isn't encouraging.

Yeah renamed the exe in the bat file and tried it but no luck. since the game can't access the games exe file at all that tool doesn't stand a chance.

You might be lucky Andrew. The retail disk in Oz was the EU version so will likely be the same copy your getting imported.

The delayed digital distribution seems to now suggest that it couldn't pass certification with valve/steam etc.

Could be. I ordered from ozgameshop.com since they had it for $30 and free postage; I wouldn't be surprised if it's the international version though.

Except that Valve doesn't do the kind of certification you're thinking of.

And the Steam versions don't have securom anyway.

Yeah probably. Just grasping at straws for some logical explanation at this point

oh there is still securom features with some steam games. When I ran the diagnostic tool for securom it identified gta IV, crysis 2, and a few other games on my steam HDD as utilising securom. Probably code that was never stripped out for digital releases.

My bro who also has the same issue actually spoke to someone from 2k. He found this out..

Just spoke to someone at 2K Sports in the states. This is a known issue. I was just told best case, give it a couple days and a "patch" will be released which will require a download.



He needs me to do a few things (send a screen shot of the fault and shit – so I need to install here at work, lucky I brought the disc!) and this will help diagnose…..



But it is a known issue and they are working on fixing it. He said Xbox 360 had a problem on release aswell and it took a day to release a patch for it. Its about how fast they can diagnose it to make this patch.
