Demo Q&A

Postby Leftos on Tue Sep 25, 2012 9:10 pm

In this thread you can feel free to ask any questions about the demo, as well as answer some if you got the demo. This way, we'll try to get an FAQ going with your questions and answers, for those who, like me, don't have access to a console to actually try the demo out.

If you already have tried the demo out and would rather just post your impressions instead of answering questions, you can use this thread.

Demo FAQ

Q: Can you substitute players in the demo?
A: No.

Q: Is the demo Kinect-enabled?
A: Yes, and calling for picks and screens seems quite responsive.

Q: Can I select which user I play against online? Can I play against a friend onine?
A: No, the game picks someone randomly for you.

Q: What are the signature skills for the Starting 5 of each team?
A:
Miami
Mario Chalmers: Spot up Shooter, Active Hands
D-Wade: Acrobat, 4th Quarter, DeadEye, Shot Creator, and Interceptor
Lebron James: Finisher, Lockdown Defender, Dimer, ChaseDown Block, and Interceptor
Battier: Lockdown Defender, Corner Specialist, Charge Card
Bosh: Spot Up Shooter

Thunder
Russell Westbrook: Finsher, Acrobat, Ankle Breaker (), Interceptor, and PickPocket
Thabo: Active Hands, Lockdown defender
Durant: Microwave, 4th Quarter, Shot Creator, Finisher, DeadEye
Ibaka: Defensive Anchor (SMFH), Eraser, and Hustle Points
Perkins: Brick Wall, Bruiser, and Defensive Anchor

Q: Can I call plays in the demo?
A: If you have a Kinect, yes. Calling for picks and stuff like "Durant 3 pointer" (pretty much whatever was on the D-Pad Right button last year) can be done via Kinect.
If you don't have a Kinect, holding down LB should call for a pick like last year, as long as the player who should set the pick isn't really occupied in the post (per Da Czar).

What kind of playcalling can you access via Kinect? The right on D-pad last year stuff + picks? Or can you even name specific plays?

Just noticed on all the gameplay videos, including FULL game with Ronnie2k, demo gameplay, there are watermark "NBA2K13" in the bottom left corner. Сan it be disable or its new "visual feature" of the game (which is bad if so)?

I moved your post because it's a question and it belongs in this thread, not the Impressions thread.

Interesting. Jon, or someone else, think you could put up a CPU vs CPU video, so that we get a better glimpse at the AI (even without all the plays)?

Can someone please help me understand the signature skills theme. I was wondering if you have to activate the skills before using them or if its automatic, also how to get the sub menu in game of each individuals signature skill?? Thank you to anyone with information for sharing

Heat88, up on the D-Pad brings up the Sig Skills HUD. Signature Skills are activated automatically as long as you fulfill the criteria for each particular one and you do the right move.

Is anyone finding that calling for a pick in the demo is sometimes responsive and sometimes no matter how many times you press the pick button it just isnt happening??

Heat88, Czar said on OS that calls for picks will only work when the player that should come for the pick isn't heavily occupied or in the post.

arr okay that explains why it sometimes works and sometimes doesnt, that will make it hard then to call for picks with the heat when lebron is the ball handler because the only screener is bosh who is in the post usually. any advice on the best scenario to call for screens??
