Trade Logic

Was any info posted about trade logic being improved/fixed this year?

This is the most important issue to me that I wanted fixed.

Association mode is very much still present, with most of the same great features as in 2K12. (We were also told the trades made by computer-controlled franchises will be a little more realistic this year, too.)

Opinions are my own.

Thanks.

"A little" doesn't sound very promising =/

Prior to 2K12 2K said they didn't have a lot of time to address association, but they'd address it for 2K13. Now for 2K13 it's 2K13 has all the same great features 2K12 association had.

This year there's a real feeling of:

2k fan "Has the game play improved?"
2k "Check out this shiny new feature - you can dress your player."

2k fan "Great, but has the association improved?"
2k "Trade logic is better. Check out this in depth video of the shiny new feature - JayZ influenced the game so now it has more hip hop style".

2k fan "In MyPlayer or Mycareer, whatever you call it, will teammates react like smart basketball players? Will superstars on my team perform like superstars?"
2k "Sure. Now check out these billboards you'll have. And you can tweet rappers and movie stars. It's all in this 30 minute video."

Pretty much been the case for years. I refuse to believe anyone actually cares about what sort of shoes the players are wearing in-game.

Unfortunately those people exist and have too much sway, imo, in the game's direction.

I wish they'd take ONE year to fix association.

It's ridiculous that after 5-6 years every team in at -30m capspace and 80 OVRs sit in free agency waiting for max offers.

This is very much happening in NBA Live.

Agreed. Everyone's entitled to their opinion of course, and for the sake of realism, accuracy and attention to detail, realistic shoes have their place on the To Do list. That said, I just can't get my head around it being a dealbreaker, the one thing that ruins the entire game, but apparently for some people it is just that.

Shoes and things like hand animations on dunks. I've tried noticing it in NBA 2K12, and honestly I still don't see hand animations being terrible or a thing that should be remedied soon. I mean who tells these guys to focus time on hand animations, and forget about the terrible Association AI that hasn't been touched in years? How difficult is it to add a few lines of code to reduce generated rookie potential, and to actually incorporate team plans (rebuild, contender, dismantle) that were mentioned as a new feature few years ago?

But anyways, their focus was clearly on MyCareer this year, and that's great, however I don't think it's unreasonable to assume glaring issues that have been present in one of the main game modes for years to be fixed.

I don't think the animators and people working on Association AI are part of the same team.

Your point about the MyCareer focus is more valid than the first one you're trying to make. I'm disappointed to only see Total Sim Control and Start Now being the only changes to Association, and I'm hoping that other minor issues have been taken care of as well behind-the-scenes, and we'll have to notice them by actually playing the mode.

Here's hoping we do actually get that Association Insight and there is some good news on under-the-hood tweaks and the like.

Hoping the under-the-hood tweaks included updated CBA changes and how it affects team's signing, trading etc

They've made a point of mentioning that the new CBA is in the game and how it was "a lot of work to understand and implement in Association" a few times during this preview period. Check out the conference call, it's in there.

Thanks for letting me know. I've got no desire to listen to conference call, so will take your word for it.

I have no doubt that there would be a lot of work involved, but given that it's a deal breaker for many Association players, hopefully it is a solid representation (I don't expect to be perfect in first year, but hopefully balance is there).
