Ok Im totaly new at this but love what you guys have done with UBR and all the other mods... Im ready to make the change to PC and have about a grand to spend on a gaming computer however Im a complete idiot!!!... Any help on which gaming computer would be great.. Mind you I wouldnt know where to start on building my own... Im not much on online play or my player just love the classic teams ... Please tell me you guys are going to create an UBR for 2k13... Also { just a thought } how about a mod for the ABA vs NBA games held in the 70s ?... Now thats some dream teams!! Thanks

You can even go lower than this and have a decent gaming computer. I picked some high end hardware with the mobo, graphics card you can find a little cheaper one, etc. I would suggest not to skim too much because might as well build something decent. But there you go $30-$60 over a grand for a nice gaming PC. This is just an example, you might find some things on sale if you look around. But Newegg is a great site.

That's not a bad list. My two cents would be to get a cheaper Mobo, and put more money towards the CPU. CPU is so important for gaming. You can get an i7 2600K for just under $300 and that offers a lot of room to overclock.

Just get a decent enough mobo that allows you to overclock. If you have the budget, of course I'd say go big with both that Mobo ChicagoRaw posted is nice.

Also as a heads up you can get older generation video cards cheaper now. For instance a 570 is stronger than the 660, but the 570 can be found cheaper just because its older. The 600 series are mostly known for better cooling options and efficiency.

Yep. i7 ftw. I did a quick list, like you said he can get a better set up with some looking around.

Nice info on the GPU. I haven't been paying attention to the latest models. I have a 570, great card.

If you're going Intel save yourself some money by going with the i5-2500k or the newer Ivy Bridge i5-3750k.

The i7's perform the exact same or even sometimes worse for gaming compared to the i5's. Check the benchmarks. However they do have hyper-threading allowing them do some other non-gaming tasks better.

Regardless the extra ~$100 that you save by going with the i5 can be put towards you're graphics card, which is often more important for games on PC. Or if you're going to overclock then put the extra $$$ into a better cooler.

Now for the graphics card. Depends on your resolution. Anything below 1920x1080 (1080p) I wouldn't be spending more than $250. I have a $200 GTX 560ti and haven't seen a game I can't play on high settings with an Ivy Bridge i5, w/o any overclocking at all (1080p). If you're going above 1080p, then look at anything from GTX 660ti and up from Nvidia or the 7870 and up from AMD.

Any questions about which is better when browsing, search TomsHardware.com , they have so much information it makes picking out the system you'll be happy with really easy. Benchmarks on the toughest games most available GPU's and CPU's. For a quick reference guide on GPU's use:

For sites newegg is fine. If you have one near you Microcenter sells CPU's at easily the cheapest price you'll find, only catch is they only sell to you at that price IN-Store.
