The Dallas Mavericks are in advanced negotiations to sign free-agent center Chris Kaman, according to sources close to the process.

I knew it! Kaman's the only friend of Dirk left out there  Don't think this one really has a chance of falling apart, and anything's better than Haywood.

Well, at least they're a playoff team now. I reckon they round out free agency with someone like Felton and see how it goes as a middle-of-the-pack playoff team, in wait for another crack at free agency.

Good signing. Then again whoever the Mavs right now will be good to me.

Did I miss something? I don't see how Chris Kaman turns them into a playoff team.

At last they bring in a player this offseason that wasn't acquired through the Draft. It's an OK move that won't compromise their ability to throw money at key free agents next year.

At least one player who did not sign with the Heat, Lakers or Knicks.

Solid deal. Kaman and Nowitzki can play together, they already showed on the German national squad. As it was said before, this does not really tie their hands for next season, so why not?

I've seen those games you referring to. My only concern is the missing inside presence, as both Kaman and Nowitzki tend to shot from mid-range, but avoid to go inside whenever they can.

Kaman used to be the opposite of that until he developed a mid range jumper.
