I have realized that I won't be able to quit my gaming hobby for a long time, so I'm facing a big problem. My crappy PC.
So to start the topic, here are my specs:
Intel Pentium II(I?) 533/133mhz
320 mb memory
68.5 gt hard drive
Video card: Asus Geforce 5200FX
.... and something like that.
So apparently, if I want to keep buying new games, I will need to update my pc even more. At least the processor and more memory. I have already bought more memory, more harddrive space, new speakers and a video card. The original system gets 4 years old this year.
So if I decide to buy a new processor and more memory, it'll take about 300-400€. And I came up with a new idea; with that money I could buy a Playstation 2, a couple of games and maybe some accessories for it.
My system would get old anyways after the update...

but Playstation wouldn't.
I'm tired of playing games with low graphics, always turning the details to minimum (NBA Live 2004), Hell, I don't even remember how a game looks like with detailed maxed out. The last time was either with NHL 2000 or NHL 95.
I also have to think about the future. If I decide to buy a new processor, what about after 2-3 years? I will have to buy a whole new pc (because all the rest old stuff in my pc) which will cost me the price of 3-5 new PS's. And I'm soon facing life in the university so I would save money if buying a ps. I will get very poor so that would be a saving.
I have listed here some pros and cons for buying a Playstation (that are from my point of view).
More games: You can't argue with me that PS has more games than PC. The game industry today concentrates more on the consoles than PC. Even mega games like NBA Live and GTA are straight conversions from the consoles

the games don't often use PCs advantages which is
+EA:s dominance in bball games. PS2 has NBA2k series
Updating: What updating? PS needs no updating.
Price
DVD-player: Yea, this would be very useful for me when I move out. I wouldn't need to buy an external DVD player.
Games' price: Yea, PS games cost 10-15€ more that new pc games.
Graphics: PS2 looses when comparing graphics to pc. But since I don't know how new games look full detail, that doesn't really matter to me. At least I know that they look better than on my pc and that's enough for me.
And don't try to convince me what else you can do with a pc, my current pc is good enough for internet, photoshop and all windows applications. I would only use PS2 for gaming and DVD, that my pc is not good enough for.
I would like to hear your opinions and suggestions before I make my decision.
Also, if you have some info on the following questions, please answer to them as well.
1. Are there any plans for NBA Street 3 ?
2. Are there any plans for Playstation 3?
3. IS GTA SA really coming out for PC?
Thanks for your time and concern
