r-tistic, remember how i said i was having problems overwriting. well i finally figured out how to overwrite.... thanks to jbluvchild. heres the key stuff

All players set to generated
Picks 1-15 need at least 3 strengths
Picks 16-25 need at least 2 strengths and at least 2 weaknesses
Picks 26-29 on need at least 1 strength and 2 weaknesses
Picks 30 on need at least 3 weaknesses
(for the above field it's refering to rookstr1/2/3 fields)
All players have team and salaryteam set to 39
Fill in the rookierank rookie value and rookiepkg fields correctly...

repole do you know which dbf file actually contains the values listing the strengths/weakness?

i've tried to include okafor in the draft (i was successful in having him show up) but his name doesnt show in the main draft page (its just blank).. but when u click on his scouting report his info does show up.. i made his ranking as 1st and 2nd ovrl pick but yet by the time i choose to 8th overall no one had picked him up.

thier in the players.dbf too, and he probably went 8th because the other guy projected 1st was there and so on.... thier are fields rookstn and rookwkn or something like that which are strengths and weaknesses. you have to reasearch the numbers to figure out what means which...

i figured that much.. so i guess no one knows which dbf file contains the info that say 100 = good freethrow shooter and etc..

i wonder if previous versions of live would have it listed..

Alright...I had been busy with summer school, and hadn't checked the thread in a while, and when I did get time to check it I realized that I had to modify some things as far as the rookies.

I experimented a bit, and I still have not found a way to put the rookies into a draft without the generated rookies, and it is pretty annoying because the top rated picks, Okafor and Josh Smith, usually don't even get drafted until 6th and 7th because their ratings are lower than these other top picks.

The second problem is that I want to play Andrew's rosters that I tweaked a bit, is there a way to do this? The third problem is that I keep getting some legends like Sir Charles and Kareem signing on teams (actually he was on 2 teams and on the Spurs twice ).

Hmm, well as they are now, they should just be free agents that are created. If you want to put them in the draft, I don't know if I have all the other fields filled out accordingly. What did you do to try to get them into the draft?

With me, I used his rosters, and at the end of the season I put the best 60 in the draft just to experiment, and most of them did get drafted but the generated rookies still appeared although I did what repole said.

I simmed a season and went to the draft...how am I supposed to get them to be drafted?

ok this is what ive come up with for draftees. feedback is needed please.

repole state the following which is all true:
All players set to generated

By playing around with the offseason mode i was able to figure out the following:

Rookie Rank field range from 1(top prospect) to 70(least desired prospect). EVERY player needs a ranking, so 70 players are needed.

Rookie Rank 2 field range from 0-11 (actual projected order)
0 - 1st overall
1 - 2nd overall
2 - 3rd overall
3 - 4th overall
4 - 5th overall
5 - top 10 pick
6 - top 15 pick
7 - top 20 pick
8 - late 1st round pick
9 - early 2nd round pick
10 - 2nd round pick
11 - late 2nd round

Rookie Strength 1/2/3 fields range from 1 - 659 (im not sure if 659 is the absolute last field but that was the greatest i saw from cpu's generated rookies)
-2 = blank space (i could be wrong) 0 isnt a valid entry

Rookie Weakness 1/2/3 fields range from 1 to 746 (again based on the info i got from my simmed rookies)
-1 = no major weakness (useful for top ranked players)
-2 = blank space (again i could be wrong here)

** if anyone would like to help in figuring out each strenght/weakness field please hit me up. i think this is most crucial for the draft to move successfully


Draft class field is easy to figure out. they range from 1 - 4
1 - highschool senior
2 - college freshman
3 - college junior
4 - college senior

Envelop field ranges from 0 - 29. I have no clue what it does or each field means

Career Package range from A - I (this somehow goes hand and hand with the envelop rating and also the players rookie rank2)
a - very high avg
b - high avg
c - above avg
d - just above avg
e - avg
f - just below avg
g - below avg
h - low avg
i - very low avg

other stuff you need:
-1 value for the dround, dplace, doverall fields. the draft year field (2004etc) should be blank. the cpu will update it once the draft completes

rosterpos should be blank. depending on your team roster the cpu will place the rookie somewhere in there.

i was able to see Okafor, Howard, Deng and Livingston go top 4 in my draft. the majority of my players i included got drafted. Players like Telfair and Devin Harris were picked in the teens, barely earning themselves a lottery salary. By the way salaries shouldnt be listed, leave that for the cpu to figure out. I have no idea on how to determine a players value rating but once u create a player from within live its automatically added.

i hope this helps, also let me know if i might be wrong with some info.
