saving framerates

Postby haaaaanis on Thu Mar 22, 2012 4:26 am

I don't know if somebody is really interested in that so before I upload anything I will descripe my patch:

I noticed that the the stadium quality and the crowd take the most of the power in the game and hamper the game to run fluidly. What I wanted to do is to play the game on with low-res stadiums but with high-res courts-the problem was that by turning the stadium quality down the floor quality also was turned down...so to prevent that I made a conversion of the floors from high- to low-res and now I can play with low quality stadiums which is really not that bad, you just have to sacrifice a few details but the stadium is really similar to the high-res stadiums but for that tha game runs much faster than with the high-res stadiums!
In my chase-I have an avarenge laptop I have an i3 processor running with 2.10 Ghz, a GeForce GT 520M graphic card-so as you can see nothing special or tuned up but I'm using the ENBS patches, seanjohns shadowmod, and the FXAA patches and have my settings maxed out and I run the game fluidly!

Further another thing that really gives my game boost is that I'm using the Bobcats stadium as a stadium for every team!The reason is that the low-res stadium of the Bobcats is really dark, the crowd is nearly black!What I did is that I modified the stadiums for every team that it doesn't seem like that the Lakers play at home in the Bobcats stadium!Every Bobcat banner is turned in my stadiums files black and every team has it reals backboard!

I also resolved the problem with the dornas!Every team has different resoluted dornas but I also prevented that problem!

And everything combined with this patch here: http://www.moddingway.com/file/17904.html (this patch increases the power of the game AND is maxing the quality of the game out!) is making (atleast for myself) the game running on very high quality fluidly and without lacking power!

If someone is interested I will upload pictures (but somebody has to explane me how to do that!) and I could also update if someone wants to try that out the modified .iffs and my config file!

a alaso tried the first combination but I had the same result as you had, that the dornas appeard white so I made the other combination which I described in the first post!

I can upload the f_files that I already patched so that logo doesn't appear or I can describe you what you have to do so it doesn't appear, so you can keep your own f_files!

If you know how to use the modtool and insert textures in an .iff file it's really easy but it's gonna take you an hour to do all the floors!

so here you got the high-low converted f_files: http://www.sendspace.com/file/1dh9mq
just put them in the main folder and switch your stadium-settings from high to low when you start the game and the there will not be those playoffs-logos!
...u gonna have low stadiums but high floors!this gave me a real boost when I tried that out!

and the credits go to various patches from this forums and others for the original f_files, I just made a conversion!

If you want to take screenshots or videos of games you need to download an external program, I recommend MSI Afterburner. Its simple and will work on any computer, just run the program, click settings and set which key on the keyboard you want to use to capture images and initialize/end video recording. Then launch the game while MSI Afterburner is running then you can capture or record videos.

Note "MSI Afterburner also has other features that lets you manage the performance of your pc, such as clock speed. Do not mess around with these settings unless you know what you're doing because you can seriously mess up your computer or worse, overclock it (You cannot recover your pc if you overclock it, it will make your computer scrap metal)".

Here's the link: http://event.msi.com/vga/afterburner/download.htm

In terms of the video settings for your nba 2k12, I recommend turning off vsync and anti-allising unless you have a high end video card. My video card is a nvidia geforce 8500 gt, which is a pretty basic video card from about 5-6 years ago, and runs the game smoothly with 3gb of ram on my pc.

Here are the screenshots of the video settings I have:

Regarding ti the stadiums I did something else!I'm using the Bobcats stadium for every team but I configurated that way that every team still has it's original backboards and I changed every Bobcats texture (in which e.g. were Bobcats-logos) with black textures it doesn't seem that e.g. the Magics play home in the Bobcats stadium!I did that because the crowd and the Bobcats stadium ist really dark and that saves also power when I play!

But if you want to use patched backboards you can insert the textures with modtool!Believe me it's really easy!
Here is a tutorial which is really good: viewtopic.php?f=144&t=82787 if you try a little bit you will see that it's really easy to work with the tool!
here you have some textures you could use http://www.moddingway.com/category/176.html or you can open already patched stadiums and take from there the textures and insert them in your stadiums!

I don't care about the backboards because I'm using the TNT-cam patch and from that angle I have I just see the upper backboard (not the advertises) and the rim

Hi, i tried the config changes but it made my game slower because I saw some noticeable improvements in the players. What gives? I thought it was to make the game faster?

I can upload the stadiums within the next hours depending on how long it takes to upload them!

@simonsky96
As I said I can't guarantee that it's going to work with every PC-primary it depends on what kind of PC/computer do you have!I have just an avarenge laptop and this are just my expiriences how to have the best quality without that the game stucks and freezes!
As I already wrote my main goal was to get the player and jersey texturers really high because in my oppinion they the main part of the game and keep all around in low quality such as the stadium and the crowd because they are not the main part of the game but the are killing your pc if you have them on high quality!
Now regarding you config-file open it with notepad or another program and follow those instructions: http://www.moddingway.com/file/17904.html ! It really helped me!
here is my config.-file: http://www.sendspace.com/file/akv3yf
the only thing which has to be change is just the number of your cores (as you can see that in the patch) and the gpu-logical thread which depends on your graphic cards gddr!!!

first start with downloading the floor http://www.sendspace.com/file/1dh9mq ,stadium and dorna http://www.sendspace.com/file/dmkfpn files and paste them in your main NBA 2K12 file where the whole .iffs are
then go to your video settings in NBA 2K12 and turn your arena settings to low...now you will have low res-stadiums but high res floors!
those are the major steps for this patch!
additionaly you can follow this instructions which also gave me a boost: http://www.moddingway.com/file/17904.html or if you have a quad-core or atleast an i3-processor and a gddr5 graphic card (you can search that in your pc requirements) just paste that config http://www.sendspace.com/file/akv3yf in your save folder!

I repeat this will change your game alot so keep making backups of your .iff files!Further I don't guarantee that it will increase your framerates!Alot depends on your pc/laptop!

I hope that those who will try that patch will give me replies if it helped!

Hi haaaanis.

Just to clarify, if I already have my stadiums on low and the game has so-so fps, downloading your files would just make the game slower since what you are trying to do is increase appearance of floors/players/jerseys while keeping the stadium lowres right?

I tried the floor and stadium patch, and set my arena settings to low and it barely increased my framerate from 39 FPS to 45 FPS :(
I am using crystal clear photomod, and I am desperate how to keep my frame rate smooth while using the photomod
I get 30-45 FPS with the photomod, but 60+ FPS without it. If I dont use the photomod, the game looks too blurry.
Please help me to keep framerate smooth while using photomod

@simonsky96
If you also play with low-res floors you can download the converted courts I already made and use them!This won't affect your FPS!That's the point of the patch: to turn down everything which kills the power/FPS and keep other things such as that floors which DO NOT/BARELY affect the game speed high!
So i'm nearly 100% sure that if you use the courts and now playing with low-res-stadiums but high-res courts that you will have nearly the same speed as before with the low-res floors!Just try it out and tell me your results! :wink:
(The stadiums and dornas part isn't really necessary but it also saved a little bit power)

@free24ride1
First of all it shows that the patch work by seeing your increasment!That's already 6 FPS! :D
Yeah I know!Well, first of all I didn't like the crystal clear photomod at all (but everybody has his preferences)!
I took a look and I adjusted it a bit, so try that out if you want http://www.sendspace.com/file/ejd0zg

Could also be the reason why I lose framerate is because I use SeanJohn Shadowmod? Also my screen size is 1440x900 in 2K12..
Anyways can you help me? my framerate at starting menu is 33-34, and the players at the menu when they move.. it looks so choppy. How do I increase my frame-rate further? I followed ur instructions.. used the floor/stadium patch, my arena at low.. my Vsync is off. I am also overclocking using MSI afterburner to raise my fps but the players still move choppy at starting menu! I use 1440x900 becuase it looks best on my screen.
