Could be worse, right now I'm about 200 hours in, but it's my second playthrough.

It's promising but not fully optimized yet. The transition is often really slow, even when choosing the fastest one in the options, so it ends up being distracting and blurry for no good reason.

Actually, i think it's better. I thought it would originally be that better items increased your smithing more. Unfortunately, it isn't. They need to do this to enchantments, also. If I use a common gem on a low value item, I should get less enchantment skill than I would with a grand soul gem on a higher valued item.

Yeah, I agree it's better but I still found myself using this if I was just a little bit away from leveling up. I guess it's good they're taking away the temptation. (Y)

Started a new character because my guy was just too dominant. Even on the hardest difficulty most of the game became boring.

So I'm going to try and make this round more realistic, less broad. Focus on a few skills and try not to become a freaking God at everything.

A few mods have totally changed the way I play this game, make combat and exploration much more difficult and intense:

Realistic lighting
-Makes daytime really bright and contrasty (almost like an injector but w/o the performance loss), also makes dungeons and nighttime super dark, creating a really eerie atmosphere, somewhat like parts of Bioshock or Deadspace. Torches are a necessity.

Sounds of Skyrim
-Dungeons become more suspenseful, the open wild feel like your in the middle of a forest or actual wilderness, just awesome. So many ambient sounds added.

Deadly Combat
-Attacks do more damage, more recoil when hit, blocking becomes more important. Makes the combat in every way more strategic. I got in a shitty position with a Dragon and Giant, with just me and my follower Lydia, and the game was fucking awesome. Spent an entire hour just trying to beat them.

Ultimate Follower Overhaul
-I never used followers much in my original game, but this mod makes them really useful. Trade stuff with them, order them to sit and relax, stay wait, show their stats and resistances, level them up etc. Makes them worth travelling along with.

Better Horses
-Haven't used it yet, but adds a lot to horses such as portable storage saddles, map markers, horse calls, trample attack, and a bunch of modifications which you can customize.


These mods along with the updated textures, new kill cams, and unreal looking underwater effects they added make this game feel completely fresh again. It's amazing the amount of mods for this game.

I am already at Sovngarde and perhaps the last duel with Alduin. I am thinking of creating a new character, without following either of Imperial or Stormcloak soldier and see where I go from there. :lol:

OOooo mod called Tales of Lycanthropy, adds werewolf hunters that don't stop hunting you. And more lore and artifacts that improve the whole werewolf route. You can call other wolves to help, automatically transform depending on the moon, more robust feeding system etc.

Amazing how different this game feels compared to my first play through.

So I tried one of the ENB mods for Skyrim, it sure does make the game look better.
