"That kind of call happens everywhere and isn't limited to the boundaries. I reach in, knock the ball from the dribbler, and instead of a kick ball call when he kicks it, they call a reach in foul. I think it is a result of their fouls being based on percentages and ratings rather than what is actually happening on the court. I think this is the only game where I have gotten a charging call in my favor after being behind the ball handler."
Probably so.
Just as rebounds based on ratings and percentages result in strange situations. A 7 foot center, who has a 6'2" guard blocked out, loses the rebound to the tiny guard. Some very strange warping happens on rebounds.
