Problems at running nba!

My problem is:
I have a new laptop, it works with windows 7. When I start playing nba 08, it works, but when I call a time-out, the game "crushes" and goes back to windows, telling me that there's an error.
I tried compatibility with windows xp packs 2 and 3, and i tried also to put my resolution on 640x480,but it crashes anyway.
Is there any solution?

I used to have the original one, but the cd is way too "scratched to work". It's an Iso that used to work with my former pc with windows xp.
The only patches installed are Andrew's, to update rosters and teams.
