I just mentioned the tool I made because the instructions you give on your latest Pistons court won't be enough to make it work due to 2K's latest updates. I've talked with Sixers (he provided the instructions and you mention it), he knows the issue as well.
- Deleting the file from Online Data won't do any good. The game updates the folder regularly.
- Replacing the file in Online Data also won't do any good. During the updates, if the game notices something wrong, it deletes the whole Online Data folder and re-downloads it. I've tested and verified this.
Only way for mods to override 2K's Online Data updates is to replace those updates AFTER they're downloaded, AFTER the game's boot-up sequence, EACH TIME. Which is quite the annoying manual task.
That's why I made the tool. With the right modlist included in each mod, you make sure your mods won't get replaced by 2K's updates, as my tool waits for the game to finish updating and THEN overwrites the updates with the mods the user wants to keep using.
This tool isn't specific to your mod, it's a general-use tool that can be made to work with any number of mods.
Only thing you need to do as a modder is include a .modlist file in a KeepMyMods subdirectory along with the mod, that contains a list of each file the mod includes and that should not be overridden by 2K's updates. And also, of course, recommend my tool.
