Blackhawk Down

Platform : PC
Team : Atlanta Hawks
Season Length : 82 games (one third played)
In-game quarters : 11 min
Sliders : mine , as realistc as I could make them
CPU Trades : OFF !!!
Playoff Length : standard

Rosters

So, the rosters are mine. It took like a whole week to edit them. I edited all team players, free agency players and created draft classes. Here is the explanation, I recommend this approach to everyone, cause it decreases the number of players with 80+ overll after a couple of seasons to a realistic number(no more stacked teams).

This goes both for overall rating and potential !!

0-65 ( bench warmers)
65-69 ( role players)
67-72 ( sixth man)
70-75 ( starters)
75-80 ( solid startes, potential all-stars)
80-85 ( perennial all-stars )
85-90 ( The best players at their respectable positions )
90-95 ( best of generation )
95+ ( will go down as one of the best ever at their position )

Changes in ATL

Do, i Decided to hire a new head coach and a new assistant for the head coach. Since the Hawks had plenty of money to spend on staff, I decided to go all out. My primary focus was that the head coach had good grades in defense, teaching and potential. I was very lucky to find a superb person for that spot. His name was coach Gibson. The Hawks signed him on a 6 year contract, with every season paying him 5.4 million dollars. I know it is a lot of money but just look at this guys grades!

Image

After I spoke with the coach he told me his plans with the team. They were veeery risky but I liked them. As of now he has all the freedom he needs to make Atlanta a contender. You will be surprised.

Image

This is the assistant. He has remarkable grades as well. Unfortunately I spend all of my money on these two, which means that the other spots on my staff crew reamin the same ( shitty ). But oh well, you can't have it all.

Image

The first thing coach decided to do is to sign Jamario Moon. We only had one player at the 3 position, and it was the inconsistent Marvin Williams. Moon should be a nice backup for him as he is a defensive minded player with great athleticism.

New playing style in Atlanta. Will they thrive under it?

So, the meetting with the team didn't go as planned. New coach Damon Gibson and his assistant Luther Ervin scared the shit out of the team. They presented their new way of playing basketball in Atlanta: rock solid, man defense. The explained their ideas and gameplans, and their hard training schedule. "You must be in top shape in order to follow the rest of the team! " Gibson said. He explained the two possible scenarios in which the team could go.

1- start good to the season, no trades
2- start bad, trade Crawford because of his offensive mentality and questinable shot selection.

1- This scenario is not likely. The players will need to adapt to this style of play, especially Crawford and Williams who aren't really used to playing good defense. Josh Smith is a defensive maestro, Al Horford learns quickly and already has a solid low post D, and Joe Johnson is good on the perieter. Jeff Teague is really fast and he should be able to to it. But this is if it works. It will probably be like this. We are going to be somewhere around the .500 mark, with solid offense but shiity defense ( with maximum 2 players playing good D) . Jamal is going to be trade. But for who ?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2-A trade for a center. Yes, a center. This will be a risky move, you are probably going to laugh the hell of when I explain it, but maybe it actually works. So, in-game talking wise( the team will surely make the playoffs in the East this year so I don't give a fuck about simulation) size has always been a big plus. Bigger palyers are often stronger, better on contesting shots, intercepting passes, blocking shots, they are the defensive gods in 2k. So why not trade Jamal and some pieces/picks to a shitty team with a solid, big center.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-Joe Johnson goes to the point guard position: He is more than capable of making the transition as his ball handling skills are excellent for a player his size. The problem will be speed, but he is going to adapt with time.

-Marvin Williams to the shooting guard: WTF YOU MAD? Yes I'm mad. He is big, is somewhat athletic and has huge potential defensively. If I improve his over the season in conditioning/defense, and I will try that he is going to be just what I'll need in the postseason. Oh yes he can also shoot the occasional three pointer.

-Josh Smith at small forward: OWNAGE!

-Al Horford at power forward: This is going to be interesting. He is strong, good in the post, solid at rebounding and has a nice faceup jumper. I bet he will make the all-star team as a power forward.

-BIG CENTER: Preferably a defensive minded one, but one who isn't useless on offense. Any ideas? I have
-----------------------------------------------------
-Jeff Teague off the bench scorer: I am worried about this one. He hasn't proven to be a consistent shooter, nor a scorer. He is possibly one of the most important parts of the puzzle in this system. A little speedy scorer.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jamal Crawford on the outs ?

Obviously, Jamal Crawford started bitching on about how he thinks he deserves a starting spot, and now he is on the gates of leaving Atlanta. I really don't like his playing style.

THE GOOD: jumpshot, ballhandling, speed
THE BAD : defense, shot selection, teamwork, work rate.

Yes put Josh at SF. I did that and he just owns it all. I wouldn't put JJ at SG though, start Hinrich maybe, and just keep Jamal Crawford's bitching self

I will play a few game before changing anything really. Hinrich has a big expiring contract ( 8 mil) so I could get something for him and Crawford.

I say try to trade crawford or williams for some decent young talent for the hawks.

Kirk Hinrich for andrea bargnani?

And you should scout Rashad mccants for bench depth on the hawks

Williams is staying. Kirk for Andrea? Really? I'm already 15/15 so I can't sign anyone else.

My roster is already full and I really don't need another palyer that just shoots whenever he wants too, but thanks for the suggestion.
Pape Sy is not on the Hawks anymore according to 2k12

Around the NBA

Lebron : We're winning this year !!

Image

After he went air Lebron in the 4th quarter in the finals agaisnt Dallas (couldn't see him on the floor) Lequer made a bold and arrogant statemend as he said the the Uber hated Heat team is going to win the championship. "No one is better than us, and nobody will be better than us. Nba, watch out, the big three is coming. Wade and Bosh had nothing to comment about this subject.

After winning it all last year, the Dallas Mavericks are hyped for the upcoming season. "We are as strong as ever and can repeat last year" - said Jason Terry, with the whole teams thinking the same. But the Lakers will be blood thursty this year and the Thunder will grow even more.

Superman stated he no longer wishes to stay in Orlando. After the greatest player to ever played the game took his talents to south beach because he couldn't lift his team to the final goal, Dwight will do the same. "It's not even close to the Lebron situation. He went to play with Wade and Bosh and he had a good team. I had a good team just one year, but Kobe and co. were just. I have a feelling the managment isn't trying hard enough. Sorry Orlando fans, I will not opt for the last year of my contract. I am looking forward to a trade if possible.

Season opener preview

Image
The Hawks dancers will hopefully have something to cheer about this year

ATLANTA (AP)- First game of the season. We play against the super talented Minnesotta Timberwolves. Did they change. Will Derrick Williams fit in a team with Kevin Love and Michael Beasley? Will Kevin Love be as dominating as last year? Can they turn things around? We are going to see all of that in the next game

Coach Damon Gibson will coach his first competitive game, and expectations are high. Everyone sees Minnesotta as an easy way to start the season. But let me tell you something, this is hard. Anthony Randolph developed over the summer, so did Wes Johnson. Ricky Rubio will make his NBA debut, will the hype around this kid disappear after the game or will they celebrate him ? O it will be an interesting start for sure !

We want to see All-star seasons from our big three: J-Smoove, Joe Johnson and Al Horford. Coach Gibson is also a big fan of Marvin Williams, dunno why exactly. Jeff Teague will operate the team as the starting point guard so hopefully he has become more consistent nowadays. Stay tuned !

Atlanta opens season with a loss

Preview | Box score | Recap

Image
Kevin Love hits an important jumper down the stretch

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - fourth quarter, about 10 more seconds to go. Joe Johnson has the ball with his team down 93-92. Everyone on the floor knows he is going to take the last jumper. Wes Johnson has the assigment to guard him this possesion. Joe starts, stepsback with Wes Johnson still falling to the basket. He shots, he misses. "I can be happy that he [Joe Johnson] missed that jumper, the man made me look like a fool" - Wes Johnson said

Minnesotta 93 , Atlanta 92. Not a perfect start of the season for the Hawks. Their rebounding was awful, with the Wolves teams outrebounding us by the margin of 14. The Hawks were better in every single category other than rebounding , which proves that rebounding wins ball games.

We managed to nail 12 three pointer, 4 from them were hit by Josh Smith en route to his 20 points on the night. Smith had a terrific night as he also managed to rebound the ball six times, to go along with 4 assists, 2 steals and a game high 5 blocks.

The Hawks ha 24 assists, compared to their opponent's 18, they had 10 steals, 3 more then the Minnesotta Timberwolves. Atlanta had 8 blocks, twice as much as the Wolves, and they managed to lose. Oh my what a game.

Al Horford had a nice game; he finished it with 25 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. The big man also picked the pocket of his opponent's 3 times, and managed to swat away one shot. " I was good in every aspect of the game except for rebounding. They were so good today on the glass that we looked like little boys compared to them"- Al Horford said. Anthony Randolph, the Wolves center had a game high 13 rebounds. He managed to outrebound Horford by 8, a pretty big marging wouldn't you say ? The youngster also had 17 points as he shown great signs of promise in this game.

Michael Beasley had his game going tonight. He was unstopablle as he continued to go to the rack time and time again. He shot 13/20 from the field. Not bad for a player everyone thought has a bad shot selectio. Supercool Beas also managed to collect 7 boards for his ball club. His rookie mate, Derrick Williams, didn't had such a stunning debut as expected. Neither did Ricky Rubio. Williams had 10 points and 5 rebounds while Ricky didn't score a single basket and dished just 2 dimes. " They are still young, the future is bright"- Kurt Rambis said.

A player that proved he belongs in the Atlanta Hawks is Marvin Williams. The forward shot 6/10 from the field, he scored 14 points, grabbed 4 boards and had 2 steals. That is a big improvement considering his last years games. Jeff Teague was also good, but not as good. He again shown that he isn't a consistent scored as shows his final score of 6 points. Teague, however, managed to grab 4 boards and have 8 assists. But watch this now. 2 steals and 2 blocks coming from the little dynamite.

The two teams brightest stars didn't have a good night for their teams.Joe Johnson was terrible, shooting 3/17 from the field and 0/3 from the arc, while Kevin Love had "only" 10 boards and 8 points. Newly acquired head coach Damon Gibson did not start his campaign well. We'll see how he picks up the Hawks after this.

Two game recap [ L vs. Boston , W @ Chicago]

Image
Joe Jonhson was the Hawks best palyer during this two games

-

Image

ATLANTA(AP) - An unexpected loss to the aging Celtics at home. It was not really a close game as Rondo and company bullied their way trough our team. Rondo was the best player today with 11 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. The speedy point guard also stole the ball 3 times. Josh Smith was just 1/9 from the field, a terrible game on the offensive end from him. He did manage to hit 10/12 free throws. Joe Johnson had a really nice outing. 17 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and a steal by the veteran shooting guard. " I played well todaya, but we didn't manage to grab the win, a shame really."- the team captain said. Al Horford had 5 turnovers but a solid game in all.

ImageImage

-

Image

CHICAGO(AP) - After the loss they took at home in their last game, the Hawks went in Chicago and stole the show. A late 4th quarter run alloved them to win one against the Bulls, the team that knocked Atlanta out last year. "revenge tastes good, I must say."-said Al Horford, who was the player of the game. 22 points and 15 boards by the big man. Joe Johnson wasn't to shabby hiself. He scored 10 of his 26 points in the 4th quarter, including 2 threee pointers in teh deciding periods of the game. A nice win, I must say.
