Other video games, TV shows, movies, general chit-chat...this is an all-purpose off-topic board where you can talk about anything that doesn't have its own dedicated section.

Destructoid:
The Simpsons arcade game is considered by many to be a true beat 'em up classic, and while most of that is due to blind nostalgia, it's still a neat little button masher. Sadly, it's never come to consoles, but the Australian Classification Board has let slip a rating that heavily points toward a release.
It lacks system or release information, but the sudden appearance of the rating, as well as the named developer, is solid evidence.
Awesome news. Since I've already picked up the TMNT arcade game off Xbox Live, this is the one I've been waiting for. Like the TMNT game it's dated without a doubt, but there's plenty of nostalgic value there and it was a pretty good arcade game in its day, probably still one of the best Simpsons games that's been released as well.

I gotta admit, Im right there with you on this. I downloaded an emulator version of it a few years back and was surprised by how bad it was. But that doesn't mean i wont still play it lol

Yeah, I'm not sure it's aged too well; I played it a few years back when I went bowling with a few friends, the alley actually had a 15/16 year old machine in the gaming area. I guess it's not too bad as far as button mashers go but it's definitely the nostalgia factor that makes me willing to spend some MS points on it.

does it take away from the nostalgia for you when they update the graphics? I'm kinda hoping they do considering when was the last time bart wore the blue shirt? season 1 or 2?

I'd have to say no. I really enjoyed the new enhanced editions of Monkey Island (though the ability to switch back to the old graphics was cool and a few puzzles were easier with the old interface) as well as the remake of Sid Meier's Pirates which captured all the great stuff of the original and added some good new stuff as well. If I had a 3DS, I'd be picking up the new Ocarina of Time as well.
Bart's shirt has always been red through the length of the half-hour series, but I believe it's sometimes blue in the comics and certainly on a lot of the merchandise in the 90s. I've read conflicting stories as to why, one suggestion being that it's a deliberate "mistake" to identify bootlegs. When it comes to correcting it for the game, I'm not fussed. If they leave it as is, they're faithfully recreating the original game. If they update it, they're making it match the design the show has well and truly established as being correct. Either way is fine by me.

hmm i must be thinking of the shorts then. I have it stuck in my head that he had the blue shirt in 1 ep.
And fair enough: i was curious because i saw a lot of complaining about turtles in time re-shelled and I didnt really mind the update.

I guess I can understand their point of view, they obviously want a faithful re-release, warts and all. Then there are those that just like to complain.
