I haven't tried it yet to be honest, but I wouldn't think so. Usually whenever something is unlocked you get some sort of notification.

if I'll press Page Down, Backspace, Ctrl+V 1000 times in a row to get T-Shirts on all the NBA players....don't act surprised that I'll do something like this.
Image
http://www.ps3trophies.org/forum/gran-t ... -easy.html

All I'm doing is hitting X to start the race and pretty much the same exact race is occurring each time. My car crashes through the grid, then laps them all on lap 8. When lapping the cars it pushes the Camaro Race Car for half a straight away and then the red car in 2nd sandwiches me into the wall. It happens the same way each time.

Anyway, I get 35,445XP per race. Level 40 is 7,576,732XP. Disregarding what I've earned so far. 7,576,732 / 35,445 = 213 races needed. Each race takes about 7.5 minutes (plus loading) so 213*7.5 = 1,603 Minutes / 60 = 26.7 Hours.

Not that bad....not bad at all.
Opinions are my own.

I did that for an endurance race in Gran Turismo 3 a few times. It's a shame you have such a high-maintenance method to get to level 40.

Finally finished with b-spec now. Got two prize cars after winning the Nurburgring 24hr. One was a McLaren which I already owned, but the other was the 2007 Ferrari F1 car that costs 12.5m to buy from the dealership. Pretty happy with that.

noice.

I stupidly decided to switch from the 7 minute race to the 2+ hour Indy 500.....so I actually had to fill the car up with gas every 20 laps or so and got into a lot more wrecks since the cars were faster. The total XP/Minute was about 1000 higher than the shorter race....but the effort needed isn't worth it.

I might start B-specking while I play 2K on my Xbox again. Hopefully I'll be able to try 4za soon though.

To celebrate the official conclusion of the North American GT Academy competition on Speed TV (hopefully you were able to join GTPlanet’s live viewing party!), Polyphony Digital and SCEA have now made the Nissan GT-R GT500 Stealth Model available as a free download in North America.

To download the car, head to the PlayStation Store and select “Redeem Codes” in the top right corner. Next, enter the following code…

RD69-FJN9-5N6Q

…and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation. That’s it! The code will be valid through January 30, 2012.

At least you get one though.

You also get a free Honda NSX GT500 Stealth Model if you buy the 'complete' DLC pack because the DLC has been delayed in North America until October 25th.

I did a couple of online races on Spa last night and I must say it is fantastic. I haven't purchased any DLC yet, but it turns out that if the person hosting the online room has Spa you can drive on it. :)

are the paint chips you get through the DLC one time use only? or since they are paid DLC can you reuse them on multiple cars?

i would imagine they are a one-shot deal like the regular ones. but it would take you like 20 days to get 100 chips normally

They seem to be one use only. They should give us like 10 of each paint chip I reckon. I'm sure there's a way to duplicate paint chips though.

So I rented 4za and I'm several hours in. Since I had to have put over 100 hours into GT5, it may not be a fair comparison, but FM4 seems to be the better game now. The career mode is just a lot better put together. There is less grinding, and while there is less freedom and sense of accomplishment, GT5 blew it anyway by having fairly flat Cr rewards for winning races (GT3 and GT4 did it best by giving you only a couple thousand per race early, making it amazing when you save up for a Corvette or whatever).

The graphics are "better" in GT5, but the lack of standard cars and the brilliant lighting system 4za has in place makes it look arguably better (The Burmese Alps stage is stunning). The AI is also a lot better than GT5's (or should I say, GT1's) as they make mistakes and seem to actually compete. The difficulty also flexes based on how you play, but the AI seems to improve slower than I do because I win almost every race with all the driving assists off (except clutch & the time/sanity saving rewind feature I'm not ashamed to use).

With assists stripped off, the physics seem realistic, though more forgiving than GT5 still. However, the damage is very well done, and one of the most thrilling races was one where I had to block out and hold off my opponents for a whole lap after damaging my engine. I also like how you don't have to change your assist settings every time you switch cars (and in GT3, I mistakenly wasted my time playing with them on for so long - do people actually think the game is funner with them on?) and how balanced the economy is. In GT5, there are 5 minute seasonal events that get you a million dollars, and then the races in career mode range from 4,000 (2-3 minutes)-80,000 (10-30 minutes). The XP system in 4za is also a helpful way to unlock more cars, rather than an obstacle preventing you from enjoying your game.

I don't play a lot of Online (you aren't supposed to make contact with other cars in real racing so what's the point of playing real people if they aren't your friends?) but my GT5 experience sucked. They kept changing race regulations faster than I could find a suitable car (you should be able to get a list of the cars that do qualify) and so the races were never balanced. 4za does a better job here as well, simply using its rating system and offering quick upgrades that optimize your car the best. There is also the 2KShare-esque ability to buy car liveries and tuning setups.

GT5 did do a better job on the "watch your car race for you" features though.

I'm going to be giving 4za a rent sometime so thanks for your impressions. It just boils down to Rally racing vs a legit drag race IMO. Not that I have to sell GT5 to get 4za, just which game will be played more. Since I've grinded so much in GT5, I dont know if I want to start off at the bottom again with 4za either....although I really liked the damage/penalty system in 2za which I do own.

I'd give it a shot.

Starting at the bottom with 4za is a lot easier than starting at the bottom of GT5. You don't need to really grind in Forza. Damage is unlocked from the start and way better than GT5's. You just gotta play through the World Tour to unlock shit, and fortunately, it has variety (car bowling, multi-class races, 2-race championships, highway races where you dodge traffic, etc.) and reasonable race lengths (every GT game since the third one becomes unbearably tedious as all the races become 10-20 laps)

It sounds like I'm gushing about the game, but I'm not. This is just comparing the two games objectively. I was a lot more excited to get GT5, and I'm sure the nostalgia will keep me coming back to the series, even if Kazunori Yamauchi is insane.

to be fair, they had a shit ton of cars from the PS2 while Forza has had at least one game on the same platform.

I didn't like this about GT5. I tihnk it should be like GT1-4 where you can buy whatever you want, when you want. at first it didn't make much sense plus it didn't affect me too much as the prizes in the races limited you also... but I guess it does make sense the way they do it if someone just started playing GT5 today (or when they had the 5 million challenge going on)

seasonal & online racing weren't part of the original game, so they both do seem out of place. if GT6 ever comes out, they'll have these already integrated into the retail version of the game and it should be better

and traffic? sounds a bit arcade-y to me, but i think it's more like some of the challenges in GT5 where you go around nurburgring with cars in the way, less like Cruisin' USA
