Whoa, haven't seen this video yet. Just in terms of graphics, its insane. I really have to upgrade my PC soon.

Open demo dropped today. Thoughts?

I think its absolutely beautiful on the PC but its a bit discouraging because I'm not a keyboard and mouse guy. I'm getting owned using a controller w/o aim assist.

slap, fingers before thumbs

Been playing since Tuesday and it's a lot of fun. I love the new bipod mechanics and the suppression thing. Been getting random crashes though, but it looks like the servers were crashing, not my computer.

I wish the mouse was more natural for me, but its just weird. Might have to make it an acquired taste at this rate...

The bipod is freaking awesome. And mine has been crashing too, EA always has server troubles, but atleast they attempt to have dedicated servers. I have to agree all around its been a really fun game. Going to have to pre-order it now, maybe another video card to SLI as well so I can bump it up to ultra :)

looks pretty cool, but the flying isn't really my thing. the only flight type games like that i really ever liked were starfox on snes & the r-type games

however, the AC 130 in Modern Warfare is SICK. loved getting that one

lol at this

-Launch Origin.
-Need to update, well okay, oh wait it sucks so it's re-installing itself. Fine.
-Ooops, can't read the cache! Well, okay, I'll run as admin.
-Download BF3 Beta.
-Launch, NOPE CHUCK TESTA WE DON'T SUPPORT UR PASSWORD CHANGE IT.
-Okay, fine, changed it.
-Check it, we need to download some shitty plugins for your browsers. FINE, get to it.
-Oh hey, your up to date drivers aren't good enough, you need to use these beta ones.

Go fuck yourself DICE.

The beta wasn't as good as I expected it to be, but you can't have the bar to high for those. I hope the game does well, because I've been waiting since BF2 for the next step.

Re: Battlefield 3

I didn't really enjoy the beta either, but its pre-loaded on my system as well. I'll play it to death for 2 weeks until MW3 comes out, then probably won't touch it again lol.

It looks like it has a single player campaign. Does it? How is the MP experience compared to BF2 and BF2BC?

Re: Battlefield 3

Sun Oct 23, 2011 11:08 am

yea it has SP

the beta was more like BC2 rather than BF2.

You can get 17% off if your preorder at amazon. Only the limited edition, though. They are not even listing a price for the standard edition. Think it's a trick?

Crap! No WinXP support?

Re: Battlefield 3

Tue Oct 25, 2011 1:51 am

standard edition doesnt exist until after the game is released iirc. Limited edition just gets some free shit for the same price, just a way to get people to buy it early.

Origin is the worst fucking thing ever created.

I'm getting crashes with BF3 after 2-3 minutes in-game. Black screen, audio loop, then the game minimizes and the audio keeps going as if everything is fine (can't play).

I've trying new beta drivers, old beta drivers, stable drivers, disable avast, disable fraps, graphics on low, graphics on high, and the one friggin thing I am having issues with is reinstalling.

I uninstalled the game, and then hit Install. Something starts then crashes. So I try to delete the game's installer, prompting a full redownload/install. Doesn't do anything, the installer isnt on the disk, but Origin thinks it is. I wanted to try and clear this cache that is mentioned in the help section, but I guess all that stuff is for the old Origin clients because the procedures dont apply to this pos I have installed.

Suriously, F Origin.

but :applaud: to their support. American/Candian (good english), smart, patient, seriously :applaud: . Voided my old key for the game, gave me a new one, spent time figuring out why Origin wanted me to install the game rather than download it. Ended up finding out that when you uninstall the game through Programs & Features, the entire game is still on your computer, just the exe gets removed. Simply rename that folder and you can redownload. I'll call back and bug them about the freeze later.

At least they worked with you, that's very surprising. Don't worry you're not missing much though, online play is highly unstable and glitchy and the campaign is incredibly boring.

On a side note, it looks absolutely beautiful!

Better hold out for a few weeks before all the errors and bugs are worked out. Need a new PC just to run it (N)

Re: Battlefield 3

Thu Oct 27, 2011 2:55 am

If you got a 560 Ti, issues abound. The only way I can get the game to run for more than a few minutes is if I underclock it from the factory setting 900mhz to 800....seems to be the only card having major issues.

Since I got that fixed though, I wanted to play online....nope "Game could not login to EA Online backend." I "chatted" with 4 EA people this morning, they honestly take 5-10 minutes to reply and one of them actually told me to do this

Set all Online Access entitlement for BF3 to deleted.
Change the Nucleus Entitlement Tag for each deleted entitlement from “ONLINE_ACCESS” to “ONLINE _ACCESS _DELETED”
Create the Nucleus Entitlement:
Product ID:
Entitlement Tag: ONLINE_ACCESS
Entitlement Type: ONLINE_ACCESS
Project ID:
Group Name: BF3PC
Status: Active

:-?

So I had them call me again through Origin, and sonofabitch, they helped again. Went through all the steps, put me on hold for less than a minute and told me that they know of the issues with that video card and a patch is in the works. As for the "Game could not login to EA Online backend" stuff, the international servers aren't up yet, only the US ones. So everyone is getting connected to the same flooded server. Said that I could keep trying to get in and I might get a slot, but I'd be better off waiting until Friday when all the servers are actually online and running. And I got a useless 15% off code for my troubles.

Seriously, F the chat and just have them call you if you have issues.

Sorry to hear about the problems. I played for ~3 hours yesterday with very little problems. However toward the end of the day the BF3 program was freezing after the end of the game. But simply exiting the game and restarting fixed it. No mid-game crashes. Origins isn't the most intuitive thing, but w/e it works.

BTW I'm using a PNY GTX 560ti, but I believe mine came with stock clock speeds (822MHz i believe?), so that may be the reason for lack of problems. I am using the newest drivers specifically updated for BF3.

However gameplay I'm finding super frustrating. I'm new to PC shooters, so I expected to suck, but the biggest thing is the # of players from PS3-PC. The levels are soo much more dense, really easy to get trapped and surrounded. For some of the City levels there's very little in terms of destruction with the environment, and with lots of people, it feels very restricting. Pretty much attack long range here, or long range there. Coming from BF:BC2 for PS3 I wasn't expecting this.

Well, I called again to have them retry my "entitlements" and have been playing. Fuck I love this game.

I agree, it can be a bit glitchy, but its still very intense and very very fun.

I created a NLSC Platoon for those interested, and volsey, I can't add you (check your profile settings) but if you wanna add me go for it.
